Aidan Drury:
This website is not connected with any broadcaster and is entirely independent. It is run by Briantist and volunteer contributors offer some advice on reception problems in the main.
To be able to assist you with your apparent difficulty receiving DAB signals, it would be helpful to know your location, provided by giving a post code of where you live or that of a very nearby post office or public building.

Very disappointed to see so many DAB stations going into low quality mono. Absolute / Virgin used to broadcast in high quality stereo with 160kbps now down to 80kbps. Classic FM is down from 160kbps to 128kbps and BBC Radio 4 which used to broadcast in stereo all evening is down to 80kbps mono from 7pm, meaning The Archers, Front Row, Any Questions and The Friday Play can only be heard in stereo on FM. Indeed BBC R4 broadcasts the BBC World Service in stereo after 1pm in higher quality than its own BBC R4 DAB programmes in the evenings. Prior to 2012 this was not the case and prior to 2003 its bit rate and sound quality was even better still.
Smooth on DAB is down from 128kbps to 112kbps in noticeably inferior sound quality and there are many other commercial radio DAB stations in poor quality mono.
The Steve Penk Wind-Up channel (on Multiplex 10B) is now in higher quality than BBC Radio 4 DAB in the evenings from 7pm.
No woner DAB radio sales are falling. Why should people invest in DAB when their FM tuner gives them high quality stereo reception and DAB does not. Only BBC R3 has a reasonably high bit rate of 192kbps and this is one of the BBC's least listened to national networks ? Bizarre !!

I see the DAB map still isn't showing Belmont as a DAB transmitter. Also the Lincolnshire Muxco is active now on tests with full service due Oct 1st - Lincolnshire_12A_3txs_Launch_Mobile_Jun2015

Belmont is a main transmitter, it's had BBC National, D1 and regional DAB for over 10 Years, the local Mux is the only new one
