Paul E G Cope : Good Morning, Paul. In order for us to analyse your receiving situation we need to be given some idea of your location, preferably with a little more detail than the fact that you are within the coverage area of 'That's Solent'. The name of the district in which you live or the letters and number(s) of a postcode area in which or very near to your location would assist us in determining the Freeview transmitter you're likely to be using and whether you should be able to get a more solid and reliable service from it than your current experience would suggest. We look forward to your posting back with more detailed information on your exact location, Richard, Norwich.

What is needed in the Solent area is a local TV station that has the resources to provide a good quality service with competent and able technicians. Something which the present ThatsSolent does not appear to possess. It would be superb if the Evening Standard, the current franchise holder of London Live, could take an interest in this part of the world and apply when the franchise is due for renewal, or indeed if ThatsSolent last that long. Maybe then we will have a local channel worth watching.

The problem with ThatsSolent is that whilst the station provides a good week day service, and their initial technical and operational problems at last appear to be over, they do not provide any week-end or public holiday coverage and their resources should be increased to rectify this. Their current policy however of providing an all day movie service from Talking Pictures is good as this channel is only available on freeview HD and the current ThatsSolent policy gives viewers without HD a chance to view some of their output.

That's Solent TV has three films on every afternoon. Unfortunately there are no graphics for their programmes, just Talking Pictures TV from 12:00-18:00. It would be helpful if I knew what films they were showing as I could then watch it

Ypur comment is better aimed at the That's Solent website rather than this one which is intended to asssit with reception problems and is entiirely independent of all broadcasters.

I have noticed over the last 2 weeks on ThatsSolent TV the first early evening news programmes have not been broadcast on the first week-day (the first being the day after august bank holiday 2017) and instead they have continued with relaying Talking Pictures. Surely this is a breach of their franchise and they should be referred to Ofcom for this seemingly inexcusable occurrence.

The ITV services are organised on a regional basis, hence Meridian, HTV West, STV, etc.

I used to be able to watch That's Solent freeview channel 7, but recently have not been able to get it at all. There was a recent re-tuning notification which I done but still nothing. I am also fed up with only be able to receive Meridian news for the South East, for Eastbourne Kent and even South London, including weather forecasts for that area, there no use to me in Southampton, dreadful that we no longer have our own local news in the evening especially as Meridian is based at Whiteley in Southampton. The only chance we have of hearing about anything in our area is to switch over to BBC1 for South Today which is appalling that we aren't given a choice. For your information I live in the Sholing area of Southampton.
