Below are all of KMJ, Derby's postings, with the most recent are at the bottom of the page.Campbell: As you are receiving Mux1 and MuxD now you should be perfectly alright once switchover is complete. Note that only the PSB muxes complete switchover on 20th April 2011. The COM muxes will complete in September 2011 after the frequencies become available following switchover at Sutton Coldfield. It would seem that the tuner in your new tv requires a stronger signal to work properly. This is often the case with more expensive receivers, the most sensitive tuners being in the cheap STBs from supermarket chains. The downside of a sensitive receiver is weak unreliable signals being picked up and channels stored which are unwatchable!

Mike Dimmick: Storeton Wales is, as you mentioned horizontally polarised. It is intended as a "regional correction" transmitter for viewers living in the North Wales coastal area who would otherwise only be able to view English services from Winter Hill. The COM muxes are received direct from Winter Hill. A similar arrangement exists in Derby where a relay transmitter sited in Littleover transmits East Midlands BBC1 and ITV1 to viewers in the Allestree and Chaddesden areas who have to receive their tv signals from Sutton Coldfield. The line of site to S/C from the target area is similar to that to the Littleover relay which uses horizontal polarisation, enabling reception on aerials beamed on S/C.

Frank Beckwith: The PSB muxes will be 20kW from switchover, as shown above and the COM muxes will be 10kW from September (following switchover at Sutton Coldfield). That represents a ten fold increase in power.According to the Digital UK postcode checker you are not currently expected to receive MUXC and MUXD.This is not really the result of low transmitter power, more a case of the signals being blocked by transmissions to Wales which currently use the same frequencies. No amount of amplification will give reception on C53 and C57 in these circumstances.

stephen lee:Sutton Coldfield will revert to using frequencies which are all in group B at switchover in September. Currently MuxD is on C55 which is just outside the range covered by group B, resulting in "no signal" on that Mux unless you are in an area with very strong signals in which case the signal strength will be slightly less than that on in-group channels. If you have good analogue reception and can manage without MuxD until September there is no need to change your aerial.

Derek Twigg: The Digital UK postcode checker does not currently show any results for reception from Hannington, but after switchover predicts good reception using this transmitter on all six muxes for your area. At present Crystal Palace is shown as offering variable to poor reception for Freeview, after switchover this becomes good reception on the PSB muxes and variable reception on the COM muxes.

Deepack: The Sky box will not work with nothing connected to the dish input port.If a feed is available from the communal dish there should be a socket for an F connector (screw-on type)on the aerial socket plate. This must be connected to the Sky box dish input using a suitable lead fitted with an F connector at each end.

Richard waldron: From now until 28th March 2011 there is planned maintenance work taking place resulting in reduced power working and "off air" periods. The down side of using a loft aerial is not only is the signal usually weaker than it would be from an external aerial,it is more likely to be affected by the weather (frost, snow or rain on the roof) and being closer to wiring and electrical equipment in the house it is more likely to pick up any interference. The good news is after switchover the transmitter power will be 2kW on each mux, ten times its present level. Regarding UK Gold this is a pay tv channel available to viewers who subscribe to Top-up TV. Film4 is on MuxD, which along with MuxC is only 100W until switchover. The Digital UK postcode checker shows reception of these muxes could deteriorate in the period prior to switchover.

timonthenet: There are five occasions when viewers to the Waltham transmitter need to retune during 2011.These are (1)30th March when MuxA changes frequency to C29. (2)13th April when Mux2 changes frequency to C31. (3)17th August when Mux BBCA begins on C61 for switchover step1. (4) 31st August for switchover step2 (5)12th October when MuxA/SDN changes to 8k mode and power is increased to 25kW. A further retune is expected on a date to be announced when C61 is withdrawn for inclusion in the digital dividend and Mux BBCA is given a new frequency allocation.

Marc Howells: On 27th April 2011 Mux SDN changes frequency to C42+ and Mux ArqA to C45. The digital UK postcode checker shows you should have good reception of those two muxes from that date. As you say reception of C49 is expected to improve in 2012. A group B aerial will give the best pick up of the Wenvoe frequencies after 27th April.

Darren Forster: The Digital UK postcode checker shows reasonably good reception from Ludlow for the 3 PSB muxes only from switchover. It also shows variable reception on all six muxes for Ridge Hill from switchover. A good quality group A receiving aerial set for horizontal polarisation at 168 degrees is required for Ridge Hill after switchover. If an 18 element aerial is found to be inadequate a high gain aerial such as a Blake DMX10A or Triax Unix52A might be required. Note MuxBBCB from Ludlow will now use C39 from 20th April 2011 following an adjustment to the original frequency plan.
