mike: The Findon relay had its coverage increased considerably at switchover. Try a manual tune on C44 for BBC South, after first checking in the 800s of the channel list in case it is already there. Failing that you might need an additional aerial, further advice could be given after a reception prediction check using your postcode or one of a nearby public building.

Charlie: Some of the more recent tuners give an option to select your first choice of region for storage in the LCN (normal) positions in the EPG, with any alternatives placed in the 800s. Older receivers frequently put the first set of services found at the head of the EPG, in your location this is BBC from Emley Moor, with any subsequent options (BBC from Winter Hill) being placed in the 800s. Manual tuning, when available, gives the viewer the option of selecting which muxes they wish to store and depending on the design of the tuner if more than one region is chosen, will place either the first or sometimes the last option selected in the LCN positions and the alternatives in another vacant location in the channel list, usually the 800s - this you find out for yourself when carrying out a manual tune. Thinking back to analogue days you would still have found the Emley Moor signals first, but they would have been either ignored or stored on spare buttons, Winter Hill signals then being chosen for buttons 1 to 5.

louise: If all channels now give poor reception when they were all OK prior to the re-tune it suggests that possibly you are storing the channels from an alternative transmitter with each scan; Wenvoe most likely in the Bristol area or more towards the South of the region Stockland Hill or Rowridge could be delivering alternative signals. Check the frequency for each mux that you have stored, often shown on the relevant info screen. For Mendip BBC1 should be on C49, ITV should be C54, QVC (C48), Sky News (C56) and Film4 (C52). You could try doing a scan with the aerial unplugged for the first part of the scan in order to miss out alternative transmitters on lower frequencies, making sure it is plugged in before C48 for the Mendip frequencies.

Amanda Day: The frequency of the multiplex that carries ITV (Channel 3) was changed at Kings Weston on Wednesday 27th March 2013. You will need to re-tune your receiver to continue watching ITV. If a scan for channels does not automatically restore the missing services you will have to do a factory reset to delete the old frequency information from the receiver's memory. If you do a manual tune for the new frequency enter "40", then store the channels that are found.

Liz Biron: Can you give some details about your aerial? Is it a communal aerial, or if it is your own is it a single aerial connected directly to the receiver, or is it combined with a second aerial in order to receive a relay plus a main transmitter or two different main transmitters? If you are trying to receive from Mendip you are missing C48 and C49 for some reason. If manual tuning is available on your tuner try entering each of the missing frequencies, taking note of signal strength and quality for each before storing any channels, that is, if any are found!

chloe: If you do a manual tune and enter C49 what strength and quality is shown for the signal? What kind of aerial are you using, is it a communal one or do you have two aerials combined for reception from two transmitters? Do you receive ITV3 and QVC OK on C48? Further advice can be given with this information.

WILLIAM PALMER: The predicted reception at your location suggests that, subject to there being no local obstructions (trees, tall buildings etc) in the signal path, you should have a good signal available from Wenvoe.

Pete: As a matter of interest, did you receive the SDN mux on C48 prior to the frequency change for the BBC channels on Wednesday 27th March 2013?

Ann: You are correct in that EE was successful in bidding for spectrum in the 800MHz block. Other companies to win spectrum are Hutchison 3G, Telefonica UK and Vodaphone. Services are expected to launch using these frequencies around the middle of this year - 2013.
