Tommy: DVB-T/MPEG4 should pick up Saorview, either from the Monaghan or Clermont Carn transmitters in ROI. Try a manual search on UHF ch 52 or 55 and see what you pick up.

John Grant: Get Freeview HD (DVB-T2) equipment if you can pick up all the other channels ok.

Michael: You cannot receive RTE channels from Strabane, as it's a Freeview (relay) transmitter...
Clearly when you took it to the shop there was a good enough Saorview reception for it to find the Saorview channels, as it should. Where about is the shop?
Looking at your location on the Saorview coverage map - ukfree.tv - 10 years of independent, free digital TV advice - it seems you might not be able to get it, except from Brougher. In which case you need a DVB-T2 tuner.

Fergus Maunsell: Only if you are able to receive Saorview, as it will not pick up any of the Freeview HD (DVB-T2) channels.

Mark: Holywell Hill's Saorview is broadcast on channel 30, are you sure it's not that you are thinking about? If you go to UTV then to the manual retune option in the menu, what channel number comes up?

Briantist: Thanks for those numbers.
Since you have all of the data, any chance you could provide a list of the top 20 Freeview light transmitters by homes they provide TV to? :)

Peter Henderson: No, a DVB-T tuner won't pick up the DVB-T2 NI mux (just like a 2k tuner won't pick up the new 8k signal).
I have seen a Freeview manual box with DVB-T/MPEG2 for picture and MPEG4 for audio so you may well be correct.
