Paul Reuben Bruney: Your 4km from the Sheffield transmitter. If you cant pick that up, then something is very very wrong with your system. The only thing that could be wrong other than that is your signal is so strong that its screwing up your tuner.
However, the reality is that if your that close to a transmitter and you can't pick it up, there is a profound problem with your setup.

a) as various people have pointed out again and again, this website has NOTHING to do with any broadcaster, so you and anyone else who asks a similar question are totally wasting your time, and perhaps should learn to use Google.
b) Your recorder is missing the start and end - you can normally change the settings to top and tail.
c) rather than be cheap, have to edit out all the ads and then watch it just in SD, you can get the whole series on Blu ray for 30 quid, which works out at less than 40p an episode.

Tony Vermot: What is PBS on channel 560? That sounds like Virgin, which you have no need to tune for.

MikeP: Totally agree. And why would anyone have to get a new aerial for HD services? Thats sounds like someone was conned.

Christopher Webster: My parents-in-law live in North Norfolk and I get a fair number of customers from there, so I understand the confusion to some extent - reception in that area is often difficult owing to the local geography.
The only reason you might have needed a new aerial at DSO was if your old one didn't work, or had become so degraded that a new one was required. There is no such thing as a 'digital aerial'. However, 150 plus VAT was reasonable, albeit it didn't seem to work!
Likewise, there was no need for you to buy a T2 equiped TV to cope with HD (I sold a lot of TV's at the time because people WANTED to upgrade, but they didn't have to) - if your TV was a flat screen, then a HD PVR would have both replaced your often by then useless VCR and got you HD on your TV. However, if you were in the market for a new TV anyway, no harm done.
However, you now have an HD TV with a HD tuner, and thats fine.
Did installers take advantage of people regarding aerials? Many did. Manufacturers got a lift, but to be honest, a lot of TV's were sold that would have been bought at some point anyway, but just at a later date. They really didn't try to take advantage of anyone.
But one of the problems with DSO was that Digital UK trained us all in the trade, often using their experience with the early DSO's, plus sent a very useful booklet out to everyone - many of which then didn't bother reading it. And then at least perhaps bought things they didn't absolutely require out of panic/ignorance, and at worst got taken for a ride.
The media printed often incorrect information, and frankly, a lot of people just didn't make any attempt to understand what they needed, confused themselves, and now complain they were 'fooled' to do the wrong thing.

J M Adams: You only have to ask once....
Ok - since you gave your postcode, you can see the links at the bottom of your last post - and R T services reports no problem with your transmitter, your just 38km away with a clear signal path, etc. So you should be getting an excellent signal.
Which leaves you. Check your signal strength on all muxes - if they are low to non-existant, then its your system, which is the normal way of things (transmitters never just reduce the signal strength other than for brief work or there is a major problem).
Check all your connections, but since you say its worse in wind and rain, sounds like someone has to go up a ladder, which probably means a pro. Could be water in a connection, loose cable or simply that the arial has had it.

Anne West: Check your signal strength - could be too high, but possibly more likely, too low, because your aerial system might have a fault.

Sue t: Look at the top of the page for that transmitter (this is the DAB radio page) - there is no Com7, so that channel isn't possible. Even if it was, your would need an HD tuner as well.
