Julie G: I had a quick look on the Digital Stream website Digital Stream , and there didn't seem to be any mention of it being smart at all. Yes, there is an ethernet port, and a description from the Amazon website that it means 'so you can connect to the Internet' but no sign that it will go online (unlike a Humax). We stopped selling that model at least a year ago, decent reviews, but no user friendly. Try a google search , but I think it wont do it.

If you want Netflix via your TV, a cheap blu-ray player will allow to do that - the Sony 3100 Buy Sony BDP-S3100 Smart Blu-ray Disc/DVD Player online at John Lewis has wifi built in (so no need for the netgear adapter) for less than £80. A samsung 2D non wifi one (but you can use the netgear in theory) is around for less than £50.

Alternatives are Apple TV (best if you've got an Ipad) or Roku (if your Android) - both will have Netflix in them anyway. UK - What is Roku | Roku Streaming Player - just buy one. - £50 for Roku, or Chromecast for less.

alan: If you look at the Terrain plot and Digital UK lonks, you can see that your just unlucky. You've got high ground near you blocking the signal from Talconeston (your closest), and Sandy Heath, as you say, isn't exactly close, and with possible high ground in the way as well. Yes, your bascially in Thetford Forest, which doesn't help either.

I suspect that the USAF has nothing to do with it (or all of us in East Anglia would get nothing!), but would personally advise you to go down the Freesat route, because you could thrown a lot of money at getting a solution, for little result.

melanie loveridge: How does he know its not his aerial?

If you'd included a postcode, you could have checked via R & T yourself - but there seems no problem with the Marlow light transmitter, and as for Crystal Palace,it serves about 4.5 million homes, so you'd know if there was a serious problem .

Since the transmitters seem fine (and he should ask his neighbours if they are having any problems), it has to be within his own setup.

Looking back through other, similar questions, most people either disappear, or find a problem with the wiring, connections, etc. Since we've just had very high winds, etc, its pretty likely that something has broken or corroded. Even if the aerial is in a loft, it does not mean that corrosion cannot take place, and if he has booster thats powered, that can fail as well.

He needs to check again, and eliminate each possible problem.

Ann: which transmitter are you using, and what is your signal strength? You coverage is indicated as good for Rosneath VP (8km), Ardnadam (1km!) and even Black Hill (67km).

If your getting really high strength, then the signal can break up, and and also if its far too low. The really strange thing is the time its perfect - is this the same every night?

Nathalie: There is something between you and CRystal Palace, so check which transmitter your on (but Digital Tradeview reckons your fine - your are very close), but Bluebell Hill looks goodish. In both cases the transmitter is working fine (see R & T).

Since its on both TV's, it sounds like the aerial - check it back to the aerial itself. We've just had a week or two of high winds and driving rain - if your aerial connection is going to get a fault, then that might be it.

If its on the roof, you might to get a pro to look at it.

Joanne: Check your signal strength (try not to retune, you just lose the original transmitter) - if its really low, then there is a problem with your aerial system. As you can see, the transmitter is fine, and you should be getting an excellent signal.

If its too high, well, you are only 20km from the transmitter!

CLIVE JOHNSON: Waltham is fine (I'm actually further away than you are), so perhaps you'd better check your signal strength and then your aerial system.

Richard Studholme: Since this website is not True Entertainment and has nothing whatsoever to do with it, its unlikely...

CLIVE JOHNSON: Why are you using a 'top quality indoor aerial' (hopefully loft at least) when you have an excellent signal on an external one? Ok, you might get a different local news, but there should be no problem getting HD on either.

If there is a problem with the signal strength on the Waltham aerial, even though you might be on the wrong side of the hill, why is there suddenly a problem? There are no leaves on the trees, its unlikely a new large building would have suddenly been constructed, so either its the reduced power from the HD mux, or its something failing within your own system, and since its C4 and ITV which have had a problem, logically it cannot be the mux. Which leaves the system and its wiring...

As for 4G - its unlikely there is a problem, and in any case, why would it leave you with zero signal?

Robin: If you've attached it to your TV via a scart, make sure the scart is properly attached.
