Ray Ellison: Following on from JB38's excellent advice - I'm in the PE area, and if your using Waltham, make sure that you havn't picked up Belmont by mistake (they are on a similar bearing), or of course Sandy Heath.

jb38: In theory it should be fine, but I know my Goodmans box always picks up Belmont before Waltham, and thanks to its lack of manual tuning, I always end up having to play the game of doing part of the scan with the aerial out.
I can really recommend Goodmans for so many reasons...!

Nigel Neale: frankly, you hav'nt helped us in diagnosing the problem, since you give no information about signal path, etc,
I actually went to school in Oakdale, so I know the area, and you should get a reasonable signal.
If signal power has suddenly dropped dramatically, its either the transmitter, or its your system.
If you check Rowbridge, I suspect its unlikely that's there had been a drop off in power (and it would have to a large drop off). On the other hand, a frayed wire, corroded connection or simply a loose aerial lead.
As for your neighbours , they should check in the same way, and of course everyone should check that they are actually tuned to the right transmitter. Lots of people have had problems after the retune simply because they have retuned to the wrong transmitter.

SquidgyJersey: We are fine for the moment, but if you read the email that the BBC sent to Isla (and me), you'll notice that they say 'we cannot guarantee that it will be possible to maintain this work-around forever. We are therefore working with manufacturers to see if they can implement a permanent fix.'
Since these are essentially relatively cheap boxes on a standard chassis, its going to be interesting to see if Goodmans etc spend time and money to sort out an update. Goodmans/Vestral might, but I'd be surprised if all the companies that supllied them do it.
As I quoted to Isla the line from Jaws, we are going to need a bigger boat, or should I say, a more up-to-date receiver. If you buying a new TV, then it should have an HD tuner in it, and this problem instantly vanishes, likewise with a decent PVR.
At some point, this sort of problem will crop up again, so its wise to think ahead. Still, its nice to watch something without having to pull the power lead out of the back of the box every so often!

Actually, there are some good reasons for this, which will improve your viewing. The Talk Talk box is their version of a Humax Youview box. Plug it via ethernet into your broadband hub (or perhaps you those Powerline things if you need to), and you will get all for channels on demand, such as Iplayer, etc.
The box also has two Freeview HD tuners, so you can use it to get HD channels on your HD Ready (but not HD tuner equiped) TV. And of course it records in HD as well, so you can watch one channel in HD, while recording another. Since HD is far better than SD, using the HD channels is better for you.
If its Humax, the HDMI cable you'll need might be in the box, so just connect the box to the TV via HDMI, and plug the aerial into the back of the box, and then get a second aerial cable that goes from the out socket on the box to your TV .

Andy Davis: You've not given us much to work with, since we have no idea of your location. However, something does make sense - your Panny has two sensitive tuners, which in the case of that mux might be, well, just too sensitive. Check the signal level, and perhaps look at this Freeview signals: too much of a good thing is bad for you | Switchovers | ukfree.tv - 12 years of independent, free digital TV advice could be that its just hitting the problem on that one mux, and the other boxes you used are just a bit less sensitive.

les rigby: A Samsung 6-8 series does have a sat. tuner, but its Freesat, not Sky. You'd best ask someone else about whether it needs retuning, etc. Other brands, such as Sony and LG also have generic sat tuners, which might explain only picking up foreign language stations. Florence: Since there doesn't seem to be any problems with the transmitter (look at the top of the page), it sounds like it might be the communal aerial system. Ask if other people in the block are having the same problem.
Hannah: Much the same advice, but in both cases, just including a postcode when you post will automatically bring up lots of information which will alow us to better answer your questions.

Andy Davis: My first reply to your qustion strangely vanished, so here goes:
I actually originally suggested the exact opposite to jamie - I'm wondering if you signal is too strong, not too weak. You havn't given us much to work with, since we have no idea of your location, which is a huge help. However, since Panasonics have pretty sensitive tuners, it could be that on that mux, the tuners are just a little too stressed.
Have a look at 'Too much of a good thing' for more info.
I've got a Sony PVR, and it is very sensitive, like a Panasonic, but it seems more tolerant of high signal strength. I was reading 95% at one point and it barely flickered.

Maggie: Check your TV - if its got an HD tuner, then just use an aerial to get HD.
