Almost certainly your system has a fault, and its just a process of working out where.

David D: Yep!
However, if you have a look at ATV in Sheffield (just Google it), you'll see that you could put an aerial up in a loft if you get a good enough signal.
Since you already have Freeview kit, and I assume that the house is fine to have an aerial as well as a dish, the most pragmatic thing is to just get an aerial put up. 150 isn't outrageous, and then thats it.
However, if the house is in a rubbish area for Freeview (put your postcode into the site, and it will come up with lots of links), then a dish it is (which is why it might be that the house has a dish, but no aerial). Check how many LNB's the dish has (Satcure is the site for finding out all about such stuff), and if you have 2 or more, then go get a Humax Freesat PVR. 179 for a 500g. And check the back of your TV - you might have a sat. tuner in the back of it.

David Mansell: Actually, I'm MikeB, not MikeP, so I didn't accuse you of anything.
But looking back, you moaned about your reception last year - and we all said the same thing - get Freesat. But still you complain. And complain.

Bec: I'm about 2 miles away from you, so I can tell you that your likely tuned into one of two transmitters - Waltham or Sandy Heath. You can put your postcode into this site, or just go to digital Uk's website and do it, and it will bring up the compass bearing your aerial should be on.
If it is on about 300 degrees, then its Waltham, and 177, its Sandy heath. If your local BBC news is East Midlands, its Waltham, and if its Anglia, its Sandy heath. If its Yorkshire, you've accidently tuned into Belmont, which you dont want.
As for the rest - follow steve's advice, because a dodgy cable is the most likely problem.

Shannon D: Check your transmitter on this site - if its working OK then its your system. Start with loose cables, etc.

Barry : If you dont have an HD tuner in your TV or other equipment, you cant get it, while I suspect they do.

Richard Wells:
A) are you sure its an HD box (name/model would help)?
B) How is it connected to the TV? If its via a scart, then those channels might not even show up in the EPG.

Ok, so it does have a T2 tuner. And you've connected it via an HDMI cable. There are two other possibilities - the first is that your aerial is dodgy and therefore your not picking up any HD channels at all. That very unlikely. The second is that your tuned to an entirely different transmitter from everyone else, and perhaps that transmitter doesn't have that channel at all.
But I'd be amazed that you wouldnt pick up any HD channels at all.
There is one simple way of dealing with this - send the box back and buy something relatively decent, like a Manhattan - 44 quid.

Jennifer Hamad: We have no idea where you are so cannot say what signal you should be getting. But although there was seemingly work yesterday, there doesn't seem to be any today. You can put your postcode into the site to bring up information on the transmitters in your area, but its unlikely the fault is at the transmitter - its much more likely to be at your end.
Check you leads - the most likely problem is a dodgy lead or connection, and signal strength - if its low, then either the transmitter does have a problem, or you do.
