Below are all of Bill McDonald's postings, with the most recent are at the bottom of the page. Many thanks to JB38 and MikeP for their information on the BBC4HD problem, I have all the gear to receive HD television, and get all the other HD channels without problems, but I am not going to go through yet another aerial change just to receive BBC4HD, knowing my luck I will do this and they will move the blasted channel to somewhere my present wideband unit will be quite happy with, God I hate digital, bring back real VHF and UHF TV, I know the picture and sound quality was rubbish, but at least the programmes were worth watching. RANT OVER. Thanks again.

The BBC Four HD debacle and that is what it is, drives me mad, how come we can all enjoy the station for 2/3 weeks and then it is taken from us(Mendip), come on whoever is in charge of the mess that is Freeview in the UK, sort the bloody thing out.
Just returned from Spain where I not only have channels from 21 through to 68, which is fantastic in itself, but I can receive HD programmes on an indoor aerial!

Bill McDonald: StevensOnln1, Sorry Steve can't agree, UHF in the UK has been destroyed by greedy money men, and we get a cut down Freeview service. You cannot receive half of the HD channels in the area of Yeovil that I live in. Only BBC1,2,ITV1,CH4,& CH5 are available here and this applies to me and all my neighbors, Freesat is our only option.

Bill McDonald: Hi John, sorry to hear you are suffering from the same nonsense, I think what really annoyed me was that the signal was boosted OK for the Olympics, which I have nothing against. Then we were returned to a blank screen directly after the event, something not right there I think. Plus totally agree on removal of BBC3 and the waste of the space with a stupid 'We have gone to bed' screen on an HD channel.

Steven Seeds: Hi, I have the same problem in my home cheap little box from Tesco, receives all HD channels, expensive Panasonic HDD and JVC TV will not, all on the same aerial.

Bill McDonald: It would be nice if we actually had a transmitter that served our 'town' properly, we don't get a good signal from either Mendip or Stockland Hill, and I believe some poor sods to the east of Yeovil actually use Rowridge. Generally what I would class as a mess.

Hi, Have just moved to a new house, BA22 8TX, and I am picking up everything from Mendip except com7 and com 8 channels, is it the old problem of needing two aerials to make everything work or is this just a bad reception area? I have a wideband aerial on the roof and have tried re-tuning to no available, any ideas?

Hi MikeB,
I have no problem with all the other stations on my equipment, it just seems that the area I am in seems to be a bit of a dead spot for Com7 and Com8, and yes I am tuned to Mendip.

Hi, I have to concur with Steven Seeds, the BBC4HD (COM7/8) service is a nightmare here in Somerset as well, one night good, next night total break-up of picture and sound. Yeovil and the surrounding area is very poorly served by both Mendip and Stockland Hill, if ever an area was crying out for it's own relay this is it.

Hi,
I live in Yeovil and I am trying to understand if what I am reading on your pages is right, should we be able to see BBC4hd in BA22 8SA?
