Why has BBC 4 HD and other HD channels on freeview gone off the air. I have reset my TV, gone through re-tune, all to no avail. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Richard G:
None of the HD channels have gone 'off air' at all, Winter Hill is working normally at present. BBC4 HD is available on COM7 (554 MHz).
It may be that you have too much signal for the HD services to be reliably received, HD tuners tend to be particularly sensitive and excessive signal strength stops them working properly. So please would you check what the revelvant signal strengths are for COM7 at 554 MHz, COM8 at 602 MHz and BBCB at 737.8 MHz. You can usually do this by using the manual tune facility but without doing any tuning *check your User Manual if you are unsure how to do that). A strength of between 55% and 80% is normally acceptable - you do not want 100% strength at all! Note that it is the strength and not the quality that is of interest. Please report back here when you have the figures.

Steven Seeds: IF BBC4 HD was transmitting to your area, then its logically still doing so. Check your system, because the most logical thing is that your not longer picking it up.

Hi, I have to concur with Steven Seeds, the BBC4HD (COM7/8) service is a nightmare here in Somerset as well, one night good, next night total break-up of picture and sound. Yeovil and the surrounding area is very poorly served by both Mendip and Stockland Hill, if ever an area was crying out for it's own relay this is it.

I also use the Mendip transmitter but live in West Wiltshire, so I'm probably further away from the transmitter. However, we don't have any problems with receiving COM7 or COM8. We use a Log36 aerial aimed carefully at the transmitter and to avoid any local trees.
It could be that trees may be the cause of your problems, especially if your aerial is slightly off line.

BBC Four HD Mendip Transmitter is only broadcasting "BBC Four has moved".
Where to? Which UHF channel now carrying BBC Four HD?
Note: I have to selectively retune to avoid getting Welsh channels over West. (BS35)
