Which compass direction is your aerial now pointing?
If it's pointing at compass bearing 56 degrees, that's slightly E of NE, then it's pointing at Hastings.
If it's pointing at compass bearing 299 degrees, that's just N of WNW, then that's pointing at Heathfield.

Hi Paul. I'm guessing you've had some good torrents of rain in the last 24hrs or so, how's the signals doing?
I can't find any issues with Mendip at present, and I was in N.Bristol yesterday and with no issues tuned in a set to |Mendip that used a loft aerial. So Backwell shouldn't be having problems with Mendip.
There's no reported faults in the last 5 days for Backwell, Mendip or Wenvoe.

Have you changed postcode since 2018? If not, why are you using Ridge Hill and not Bromsgrove?
Have you checked that you are correctly tuned to Ridge Hill's UHF channels, and not got inadvertently tuned to another transmitter at some point perhaps if you retuned.
They could be replacing Antenna, or its Cabling or just maintaining/replacing guide cable stays and the like to ensure the mast doesn't collapse in some of the more severe weather we seem to be experiencing these days.
A lot of work like that is weather dependent, and you cannot work close to the antenna etc when it's running at full power.
If you've changed postcode, we maybe able to make suggestions or comment about reliability of reception, possibility of interference etc.

There is a report that the Transmitter was off-air From 12:18pm to 12:21pm on 29th Apr 2024 due to Essential Engineering.
I hope you did NOT carry out the Freeview "Reset" procedure whilst you had either NO Signal or badly pixellated pictures. You cannot tune to signals that aren't there or can't be decoded.
The usual result is to just clear your correct tuning, you may even get tuned to weak signals from another transmitter which won't be reliable..
As you haven't given a full postcode, we can't advise which transmitter may be best in your location as some parts of the area can receive more than one transmitter. Without that we can't we advise if you may be subject to other interference.
Check in your TV tuning section that you are correctly tuned to Winterbourne Steepleton's UHF channels which are C39, C45 & C42 (the latter for the HD channels). Once you are correctly tuned, leave it alone - it doesn't matter whether the signals disappear or are pixellated due to faults, engineering or weather conditions, you just have to be patient.

You aren't the only one who's been frustrated, many main transmitter have been in the same situation, I just wish they'd try and provide a bit more detail.

Just a thought. Somewhere in your TV Tuning section, it will give Signal Strength, but does it give Signal Quality?
Can you post the Strength and Quality figures for each UHF Channel?
If you can also indicate what they typically are - how much variability under "normal" conditions.
We might be able to make some useful comment.

Unfortunately Arqiva never provide detail of the work or how long it may take, as much of it could well be weather dependant!
However your mother shouldn't have been without the "main channels" all this time.
Which specific channels is she missing, are they HD or SD?
Are you able to check her aerial is still looking intact and pointing correctly?
If you provide a full postcode we can check the predicted reception and whether there's the possibility of interference.
