At present the weather seems to be playing havoc with signal propagation in several areas. In such circumstances DO NOT RETUNE your equipment. If you have already doine that, keep trying each day until the channels return.
As it is a natural phenomenon causing this there is nothing anyone can do.

To stand any chance of helping you we need to know your full post code.
You say you live in 'acol Birmingham', wherever that is. If you are served from Sutton Coldfield, as is most of the West Midlands, then you have posted on the wrong section. If, however, you are served from the Margate transmitter then it has engineering work at present which can result in periods without signals - so DO NOT RETUNE.

For any contributor to this site to be able to offer any meaningful advice it is essential that you give a full post code. Only then can we determine the transmission and reception conditions local to your home.

For any contributor to this website to offer any meaningful advice we need a full post code, the part you have given is not sufficient as it covers quite a large area and is not specific your location,
In the circumstances your quote you should never retune, all that does is lose some channels that you will have no idea about when the problem is resolved!

Very unlikely if you mean one in the same room as the TV set. You're too far away from your local transmitter and those aerials are very poor at best. You could use a proper aerial either mounted on the chimney stack as usual or possibly one in the loft though that can be affected by ice and snow.

J Davis.
Try switching it off and then remove the mains plug from the wall socket. Wait five minutes and then put the mains plug back in carefully and wait another 5 minutes. Then switch on the box and check you get sound on BBC1.

To stand any chance of offering useful help we need your full post code. Only then can we determine what the reception conditions are like at your home location. No post code - no help possible.
