One of the problems you reveal is that your signal is too strong. It must not be 100% but between 60% and 85%, no less and definitely no higher. It is good if the quality is close to 100%, but not if the signal strength is.
You might have to consider having a high gain wideband aerial, which will naturally have a narrower acceptance angle, and having it carefully aimed so it gets the signals from the wnted transmitter well but not those from the unwanted transmitter. It is a 'trial and error' process best done by measuring the two sets of signals as the aerial is swung towards or away from the transmitters, until the unwanted one is weak but the wanted one is stronger - it may not be full strength but anything within the range given abive will be fine.

Check in the User Manual supplied with the recorder that you are doing oit correctly and check also that it can receive HD as well as SD services.

It is quite possible that you had too much signal, 90% or more is too high - the ideal being between 60% and 85%. The effect of too much signal is to overload the tuner so it then claims there is no signal. The atmosphere absorbs some signal and that varies with the humidity of the air, amongst other factors. So it would seem that the signal level has actually reduced as there have been no increases nor decreases in the transmitter output power.

Please do not use bad language.
You may be able to view some UK channels via their websites if your TV is a 'smart' type and you have an internet connection that is reasonably fast. Alternatively, you could try using a satellite receiver. Do you have a dish that was used to receive Sky signals? Do you have a Sky box and a valid card? If so you can use the Sky box to watch many of the Freesat channels (mostly the same as Freeview). To an extent it depends on where in France you are located. Watching Freeview or Freesat is free of charge once your equipment was purchased and set up correctly. You do not have to watch Sky services at all so do not need to pay their subscription charges.

Please would you check what the signal strengths are as reported by your TV set. Would you also provide a full post code so we can check what the predicted signal reception conditions are at your location. That will also let us check for any hills, etc between you and the transmitter in use.

Please check that yiour TV is tuned to the correct transmitter. Start by looking at the 'digitaluk trade' link below your post (or go to Coverage Checker - Detailed View which is the same location) and then looking at the direction your aerial is aimed. If it is looking at Crystal Palace it will be aimed at a bearing of 110 degrees, if it is aimed at Hannington it will be looking at 236 degrees. At your location Hannington is predicted to give more reliable results. In both cases you need a Group T or a wideband aerial, Group A or B aerials are no longer suitable for either transmitter.
Once you have determined which transmitter your current aerial is aimed, you have to decide whether to have the aerial changed to a wideband type and whether to have it aimed at Crystal Palace or Hannington, bearing in mind that Crystal Palace will givce poorer results, but Hannington should be more reliable.
Then you can manually tune to the preferred transmitter, auto-tuning could pick up the wrong channels. The correct channels are given in the link quoted earlier.

The BBC HD services do not carry the 'local' news bulletins, hence the red screen with text. There is not a released plan, as yet, for when BBC1 HD will be expanded to carry all the local news services, it is unlikely to be before 2020 or later. As you are outside of the intended reception area, it is difficult to predict what or when you might get 'local' London news as you are not in the London service area. Your only option would seem to be trying the internet, if your web service is fast enough, or Freesat if you are within the service area of that satellite system. There is no guarantee that anyone outside of the UK will be able to view BBC services or those of any other UK broadcaster.

Try asking Drama themselves as this is not their website.

Please give a full post code so we can see the predicted reception conditions at your location. Also check what the signal strengths are as shown on your TV, usually found on the manual tuning page - but do not retune. If your sugnal strength is above 85% then your have too much signal and that is known to cause the symptoms you describe.

Terry:
Check the User Manual for how to manually tune it to the wanted channels. There is no known technical reason why you can't get it tuned to channel 59 as they will tune to everything between 21 and 68 - but there are not signals present on all those channels. Check that you are trying to tune to the correct channels for the transmitter that serves you. Outting your full post code into either this website or Digital UK - Coverage checker will show yopu all the channels available at your location.
