Please put your full post code into the Digital UK Coverage Checker at Digital UK - Coverage checker That will tell what channels are available in your location. Remember that some parts of south Bristol do not receive from Mendip but may be using Kings Weston Hill or one of the other local relay services. The Coverage checker will tell you which are available at your location and whther they are expected to give reliable service.

Peter Martin:
No problems reported at the transmitter. However, the hot weather is causing tropospheric lift whereby signal from other transmitters travel further than usual and cause interference, a well known and documented problem.

Put your post code into the Digital UK Coverage Checker at Digital UK - Coverage checker That will tell you if there are any problems and what channels are being used. If you also check at http://www.digitaluk.co.u…ngs, it will tell you what channels are available at your location.
There are no reported problems with the transmittter so it is worth checking all the connections between your aerial and TV.

Arqiva operate the Freeview transmitters and they can be contacted at https://www.arqiva.com/co…us/. There is no reported problem with the transmitter, so your problem is a local one - else hundreds of thousands would be complaining. Have you checked with your neighbours who use Freeview? Also check all the aerial cables and connections. DO NOT try to retune.

David Johnson:
The current warm weather is not 'abnormal' and occurs every year to differing degrees. This year happens to be a fairly hot period, but that is as expected in summer.
Tropospheric lift is a natural event occuring regularly in hot weather and is not unusual at all.

The colour of the dispklayed bars on that website will indicate just how poor of variabole it is likely to be. Only local technical services, such as an aerial installer, are likely to have any idea of how variable it might be at you specific location.

Kevin Youung:
Over recent weeks a number of transmitters have had work done to change the frequencies used for the various multiplexes and that usually means viewers need to do a retune. But it's often best to do it using the manual tune facility of most sets, see your User Manual for how to do that. You also need to know the exact channels being used now, so go to the Digital UK Coverage Checker at Digital UK - Coverage checker put in your posty code and then check the channels listed for the Guildford transmitter. Use that data to perform the manual tune if your settinhgs are different from those listed there.

The BBC have announced a few weeks ago that they will not be closing any FM services. So though DAB will be available, so will the current FM services.

StevensOnln1:
They have since issued a further statement rescinding the idea of turning off FM. They said it was because the rate of take up of DAB was too slow so they have ceased planning for the changeover. It was reported in several national newspapers.

If you put your post code into the Digital UK Coverage Checker, at Digital UK - Coverage checker you will be shown the current plan for any changes, at the transmitters serving your area, over the next couple of years.
As far as I can tell, there are no known problems at Bilsdale.
