We really need a full post code, not just the first part. Then we can see precisely what reception should be like in your location.
There could be many suspected causes, broken aerial cable, fuse failed in the supply to the aerial amplifier, communal aerial failed, etc, etc ...
Can you clarify whilst giving the post code whether the aerial mentioned only feeds your home and no other, that the aerial is still in the same position as previously. Have you tried one of the TVs being fed directly from the aerial?

Kevin Greenhill:
To be able to offer any assistance it is essential that you give a full post code so it can be determined what transmitter you use, where you are in relation to that transmitter, whether there are any maintenance works currently, whether there are any reception problems due to terrain or buildings, etc, etc.

There are no analogue TV transmissions from Waltham! They are all digitally encoded these days and formed into multiplexes carrying several channel services. So when you say there were no analogue signals, I'm not at all surprised as they finished more than 5 years ago and in some cases nearly 10 years ago!

This atmospheric effect usually lasts a few days while the air temperature is quite high and there are conditions to create temperature inversions, others on this site also give information on this natural phenomenon.
Whilst these conditions last you should *not* retune your equipment else you are likely to lose channels rather than gain!
That you found signals from 50 miles away proves it is this effect. Sometimes, signals from several hundred miles away can be received under these conditions. In the 'old' analogue days it caused interference but with digital encoding it tends to cause apparent loss of some signals - which is why you should not retune!

I concur with Richard that your problems are due to current natural atmospheric conditions. Do *not* retune your TV equipment else you are likely to lose channels.
When the weather system currently over parts of the UK passes, your reception will return to normal.

Richard:
Just to add a note that the presence of a Freeview transmitter is unrelated to the provision of a DAB radio service. Aa an example, around Chippenham, Wiltshire the TV service is mainly sourced from Mendip, yet there is a DAB transmitter at Naish Hill just south of the town to provide the radio services. Mendip does not carry DAB transmissions at all.

Without your post code we have no idea what transmitter you might be using. Supply the full post code and we might have a few ideas to help.

It is likely that your are one of the great many having reception difficulties due to the current weather conditions. The high temperatures often cause temperature inversions which means some signals travel further that usual and interfere with your reception. This is an entirely natural and well known phenomenon but there is no solution apart from patience. Do *not* retune your TV.

These problems are almost certainly due to the warm weather. It is a natural and well known phenomenon so a little patience is warranted. Do *not* retune your TV equipment.
