Installing a separate dish would require planning permission. Only one dish is allowed on any property without planning permission, adding a second needs an appropriate application to be submitted.

It could well be due to the high pressure acrioss the UK currently. Many people are having ther reception compromised by it. It is a well known natural phenomenon about which noby can do anything to change it.

You could use any channels above 58. Both of your local transmitters, Black Hill and Craigkelly use channels 55 and 56 for the COM7 and COM8 services. The channels used by them are shown here: Coverage Checker - Detailed View

It IS the weather so please be patient. You are not the only person affected as the high pressure is affecting much of the UK and causing reception problems for many people. There is no known fault at the Tacolmston transmitter.

The current high pressure is causing lots of problems. It was werong to retune and that has caused the loss of so many channels. You will need to keep retuning until all the channels return - and then do not retune when any channels disappear.

You should not have retuned at all. The recent high pressure system over the UK has caused a lot of problems, like yours. You will how have to retune again - perhaps doing it manually would be best. Use the Digital UK Coverage Checker, in the Detailed mode, to check the channels beimg used to transmit the multiplexes.

Looking at the Digital UK Coverage Checker for your location, see Coverage Checker - Detailed View it appears that reception of any transmitter is likely to be variable at best or sometime poor.
Please check ths aerial cables and connections (a poor connection can affect just one channel!) and then check the signal strengths for all the multiplexes and what channel they are on. The channels for each possible transmitter are shown on the page mentioned above. Ideally you would like to have a strength of between 60% and 85% on all multiplexes.

The current high pressure over the UK is causing the signal problems you and others report. Be patient until the weather changes and all will return to normal.
