Please check the signal strengths reported by your TV sets. It needs, ideally, to be between 60% and 85%. andy more or any less will cause problems of pictures breaking up, loss of picture and/or sound, etc.

Look at the Digital UK Coverage Checker results shown through the blue 'digitaluk trade' box below your posting or at Coverage Checker - Detailed View This shows that many of the transmitter signals have some potential problems but you should be able to get all the channels if you are using a wideband aerial (that need changed at an earlier transmitter channel reset to allow for the extension of mobile services).
That page mentioned also shows the correct channels for the available transmitters and the direction that your aerial needs to be aimed to get them.

Freeview did not 'sneak' it upon anyone. The changes were announced and details were available well before the changes were made. You need to look at the Digital UK website for details.
Which channels are used is agreed internationally before any changes are made and there are several more due around the UK for many of the more than 1100 transmitters.
If you are having problems with the channels on COM7 and COM8 it appears that you do not have a wideband aerial, which is what is needed these days for most transmitters. If you put your post code into the Digital UK Coverage Checker at Digital UK - Coverage checker you will get a listing of all the available transmitters in your area and the channels they use.
Freeview will be available until at least 2032, according to the current agreement.
We regular contributors to this website have been aware of the data errors for some months but only the site owner can do the updates. He has not been available for several months.

You need a Freeview HD capable TV or set top box. It is transmitted in SD but using an HD multiplex. It is still available on channel 94 if you have suitable equipments as above.

If you put your post code into the Digital UK Coverage Checker, found at http://www.digitaluk.co.u…ker, you will see that the Torosay transmitter is very poor at your location. It would be better to use the Oban transmitter instead as that will give you three multiplexes with expected good reception. The details will be given on the Coverage Checker.
BTW, never give your full address on any public website. That will invite all sorts of unwanted attention, even in your area.

While there is engineering work being done on the transmitter it is likely that there will be periods of interuptions and poor transmissions with weak signals and/or poor quality. Once the work has been completed and you have retuned your TV it should be working fine again, provided that your aerial is suitable for the new channels in use, a wideband aerial will be suitable.

There are over 1100 transmitters around the country so we have no idea which you should be using. So will you please provide a full post code so that triggers the display of the reception prediction data.
If you are using the Black Hill transmitter you should be getting all the available channels, so that suggests you are not using Black Hill.

We regular contributors to this website have often stated that the site can only be updated by the owner, who appears not to be available at present. If you want accurate channel data go to the Digital UK Coverage Checker at Digital UK - Coverage checker and enter the required information.

If you are using the Wharfedale transmitter there has been some engineering work recently and that involved turning off the transmissions for short periods.
Otherwise you should check your aerial connections and leads for any damage and check all the plugs/socketc for any corrosion or oxidation of the contacts.
