Gavin:

Sounds like you have a poor connection in your aerial leads. Check then by unplugging each joint and re-assembling them.

The onl;y recent work at Sutton Coldfield was to the DAB transmitters but that has been completed already.

NICKADSLUK:

I use a Log 36 (the modern version of a Log 40 wideband Log-periodic aerial) from ATV`s Choice Of Aerials for digital TV Other suppliers are available. It works perfectly for us as we are some miles away from the Mendiop transmitter.

Stuart:

Further to that said by StevensOnln1, the Crystal Palace transmitter covers most of London, not just South London.

You can get aerial advice either from the URL StevensOnln1 gave or by ringing 08081000288.

Shaun Mundy:

This website has no staff to do as you request. We contributors are purely voluntary wishing to assist people having reception difficulties.

Sandy Heath has no reported engineering work at present. So your residents need to contact an aerial contractor to check their systems - or you could do it for them as you are the area manager and have a responsibility to assist them.

You don't saywhether they all use a communal system. If they do then it is the management that is responsible for correcting any faults.

If you visit the Digital UK website and enter your full post code, they will show you what channels are used for the multiplexes from your local transmitters.

Karl Draper:

Please look at ythe Digital UK predictions for you area at Coverage Checker - Detailed View This shows that Channels 55 and 31 are expected to be problematical at your location.

May be worth trying an adjustable amplifier providing that non of you current reception is of greater than 85% strength.

Stuart:

If your signal strength is as low as 50% then you are probably using a passive splitter. That will reduce the strength supplied to each TV by 67%! That would then explain why all is good without the splitter in use. You solution should be to try an active splitter, with mains power, so that the delivered strengths are between 60% and 85% - anything less or more will cause the problems your are reporting.

If you are in SW19 then you are using the Crystal Palace transmitter. COM7 is now on channel 55 and COM8 is on channel 56. They are outside of the range covered by a Group A aerial that was traditionally used for Crystal Palace reception, which explains why most of the channels are fine but some are not. You now need a wide band type aerial. A good log-periodic aerial will be excellent and they are not expensive.

L Williams:

It is actually very easy, just look at the Digital UK website and enter a full post code. That will show all the current channels used by your local transmitter as well as the planned changes over the next few years.
