Freeview reception - all about aerials | Installing

When you originally tuned the signal was strong enough to be recognised and to set up the box.

When you retuned it was not. If you had done "Add new channels" the old one would still be there, but because you did total retune all old ones were deleted.

If you keep trying you may strike lucky again. That's why I suggested an amp.

Once you get the chnnel set up, it will try to find a signal and either succeed or say no signal.

Note that at both stages, because of the error correction used, the system will manage to work apparently perfectly until it suddenly fails.

The Wrekin (Telford and Wrekin, England) transmitter

Tim H - Are the Welsh channels on frequencies that conflict with main Wrekin broadcasts? And does HD work on the indoor ae?

Does your tuner detect 53 and 57? You might try a booster if there is something in particular you want.

Plug your postcode in at top right and see what you find.

What experience to others locally have?

The TV matters not so long as it works.

Did you check your box on the list of oines not up to llatest standards? IIRC several Humax are listed.

Tim - you seem to have everything and understand how it works!

Is there a residual problem?

I note ffrom
UK digital TV reception predictor

that 57/53 are used for DIFFERENT muxes! What fool decided that?

AFAIK the ONLY way you will cope with that is to have two different freeview tuners; one connected to a Wrekin ae; the other to a cefn mawr. (LL145HD)

Sally - does/did it still have BBC1,2 on button 1,2 and the rest where they should be, but show "no signal"; or did it not have anything on 1,2 but still got ITV on 3; C4 on 4 , 5 on 5, etc?

Have you retuned from scratch, or Add programmes?

Nothing else connected to incoming aerial when you tuned?

Do you know which transmitter you use? Feasible it is faulty, and might differ from one TV to the other if different aerials.

Is your box on the list of boxes that won't work after various changes?

Sally - try rescanning "Installation" or "All new" options, using just the (proper rooftop) aerial into the box and box into TV. Other kit can confuse.

Watch as it does it and note which Channeel numbers things happen at. That will confirm what you are receiving.

If still no go, work thrrough this

Julie - what KMHJ says!

But you do have a roof top aerial?

Have you spoken to your neighbours about their TV?

At a guess, the TV came having done channel selection somewhere else where there was a HD signal, but where you are there isn't.

So when you reset the listing disappeared too.

Are you on the main tx? Not a local relay etc.?

Stick your postcode in top right and see what Brian's predictor link says.
