Below are all of jb38's postings, with the most recent are at the bottom of the page.Briantist: Yes, quite correct, as CMT was part of the minimum priced subscription package I had at the time.
As far as CMT owing money is concerned, I not only read about this in one of the sat mags that was about at the time, but also heard it casually mentioned a few months later during a TV discussion programme about country music, this being where the "hundreds of thousands" figure was quoted.
It was really the speed that CMT departed that gave rise to suspicions as to exactly why they were going, the original announcement being made over just a few weeks via a caption on the screen accompanied by a voiceover, the said caption most likely having been recorded by me along with the music videos, as it was repeated so frequently.
PS: Interesting two links, as I also noticed the other channel I used to record from, namely VH-1.

Sue: Thanks for clarifying the situation, and which unfortunately confirms your TV is now only really of any use as a monitor, the reason being that analogue signals are no longer broadcast from Sutton Coldfield, hence the reason for your problem.
If you have no room for a separate box then you don't really have any option but to purchase a similar sized TV with Freeview built in, or alternatively, and although less convenient, and that is to leave the LG in its present position and purchase a Freeview box to sit elsewhere, then use the Freeview boxes analogue RF modulator (making sure it has one!) to feed through to the LG, the LG being permanely left on the channel used by the Freeview boxes output.
The less convenient meaning, that you cannot change a channel from within the kitchen, as you would have to do it wherever the Freeview box was sited.

Dennis: Have you tried re-setting the box? this done by holding down the power button on front of the box for about 5 seconds or so before releasing, then after the boxes power light turns red again press the power button on the remote control and the box should be back to normal operation.
The other thing that you could try is to carry out a re-scan without the aerial being connected, this blanking out anything stored, then re-connect the aerial and try another auto-tune.
If this still doesn't help your problem then maybe you could state if you receive any of the following, BBC1 / ITV1 / EPG Ch10 -
ITV3 / EPG Ch29 - E4+1 / EPG Ch24 - ITV4.
What Russ has mentioned might well apply, as the technical spec on the manual is very scant and cares not to mention if the box is 8K compatible, however if you can receive BBC1 or ITV1 then it has to be, but from what you have mentioned I cant determine whether or not you are picking up the two main stations.
Another point to note is that the Film4 etc is temporarily on a very much lower power than the main stations, and so if your aerial isn't up to standard you might not pick it up.

Dennis: It would also have been of assistance if you had provided a post code, as this would have enabled your reception possibilities to be checked.

William: You cannot split a feed cable from a dish to a satellite receiver, as each receiver requires an individual connection to an LNB outlet, the reason being that the satellite receiver communicates with the LNB on the dish as far as it (the receiver) sending a control voltage along the co-ax to the LNB for purposes of switching the polarity of reception, H or V.
You would have to fit a quad output LNB onto your dish and run an additional co-ax cable from the extra LNB's outlet to your Freesat receiver. (Quad blocks generally being under £10.00 from outlets such as on e-bay etc and are simplicity to fit)

William: Just in addition to aforementioned, have a look at where the co-ax is connected into the LNB, as dependant on the time factor of how long ago the dish was installed the engineer "might" have fitted an LNB with more than one output, which could be either two or four, and so should you see any spare outlets on the LNB just run a new cable from one of them. (any one!)
If however there isn't any, then use a Quad block as was suggested.

Briantist: Thanks for the additional info, and which I have had a good study at, I have to admit that I wasn't really aware that VH-1 was still on Sky (which I see is listed on 356) the reason basically because I haven't been a Sky subscriber for years now, having found what's obtainable from either Freeview or Freesat to be perfectly adequate for our limited viewing requirements, this totally excluding sports of any form or fashion, and a reason I feel that Sky is so popular with many.
At the time CMT closed, I was hoping that it would return at some time on the Sky Digital platform to enable me to make a new set of higher quality recordings, as although I have numerous VHS recordings of the short music videos that used to be on all day, the general video quality of the CMT transmission left a lot to be desired when compared to some other channels that were operating at the time, (e.g: VH-1) albeit thankfully the audio was basically OK when used through a large speaker Hi-Fi system. (once treble backed off slightly to kill background hiss)

karen: I realise that you have directed your question to Mark, but if you are referring to a Foxsat HDR then are you sure that the two feeds from the dish are connected into the correct sockets at the rear of the box, that is one at each end of the three seen, the middle not being used except in cases where only one input from the dish is available.
Also, when you were originally setting up the box that dual inputs were selected. (if requested!).

paul: What you have reported can indicate the possibility of two different reasons for your problem. The first being that if you can accurately associate windy days with signal fluctuations, then the signal you are receiving is likely to be travelling over (or through) an area with trees, something which nearly always causes erratic reception, this of course is assuming that its not your outdoor aerial that is swaying about.
The second point is if you reside in an area whereby signals can be received from two sources, as if so then the two TV's might not have been tuned to the same transmitter, this being quite a commonly experienced problem for some, not being able to check on the chances of this happening without knowledge of your post code.

jmb49: I had a look at the manual and I think its page 40 you are referring
to. Of course the question now is if the recorder you are using is actually stated as being Q-link compatible? because if its not then you will have to set the recorders timer as well as the TV's to make any recordings, albeit the TV can still be in standby for recording.
