Ben Ward: Thanks for the info requested, however if the Humax is indeed indicating 100% strength then you will have to take measures to reduce this to about 90% or so, as the problem with a full scale reading is that you have no way of knowing if its possibly running on the verges of being over the top in strength and which of course it might actually already be doing, this possibly being why you cannot manage to tune the other equipment in as an overly strong signal can completely block a tuners input circuitry, Humax tuners being of generally better quality being able to hold out longer than other types before being swamped by the signal.
If you do not have any form of booster in line such as a mast head amplifier etc then it might be difficult to reduce the level of signal, except that is by either turning your aerial around exactly 180 degrees or trying to get hold of an in line attenuator of about 6 - 10db or so, but indications seen on a Humax are more inclined to represent the true state of affairs as far as signal levels are concerned, and so an indication of 100% on a box of this type is a little too high for comfort and has to be reduced before a further assessment can be made.

Paul: Unfortunately a dish is very susceptible to being moved by even the smallest amount and so that aspect will have to be considered, but as a rough guide as far as obstructions are concerned, if you stand with your back to the wall facing at about 150 degrees or so and look upwards at roughly 25 degrees from the horizontal you have to be able to have an unobstructed view of the sky.
By the way, it doesn't matter how low down your dish is and can even sit on the ground, so long as the aforementioned is achievable.

Brian Smith: Thanks for that info, and which with knowledge of your location raises a question concerning your aerial, insomuch that as Rowridge's commercial multiplexes radiate the maximum power on their vertically polarised transmissions have you as yet turned your aerial around to its vertical mounting position?
The difference in power is quite massive, insomuch that on horizontal polarisation the three COM muxes (ITV3 on SDN) only radiate on 50Kw whereas its 200kw on vertical.

Lisa: If you carried out a "factory default" before re-tuning then thats a bit odd as starting afresh generally cures problems such as yours, and of course when you mention Challenge then that brings another mux into the equation as its on mux Ch52 and not Ch51 that ITV3 / 5* and 5USA operate on.
However, to enable me to know if you are receiving any of these two muxes plus an additional can you receive the following programmes: EPG11-Pick TV / EPG19-Dave / EPG27 ITV2+1 / EPG38-Quest / EPG12-Yesterday / EPG24-ITV4?
Maybe along with the answer you could also provide the model number of the Samsung you have plus a post code, or at least on from nearby (a shop / post office etc) as I cannot assess the signal levels expected in your area without this knowledge.

Mary Martin: Indications are that you could be receiving roughly the same level of signal from either Crystal Palace or Sandy Heath, so carry out a "factory reset" or "default setting" on your TV and follow this with another auto-scan.
I would normally advise that if ITV3 still doesn't come on then try a manual tune on Ch51 if you receive from Sandy or Ch25 if Crystal Palace, but I suspect that your EX range Sony might not have a manual scan, EX covering a few models.
The reason I requested a reset before auto tuning is because that on some Sony models only a reset completely deletes everything stored in the memory, and its always advisable to scrub everything in case any corrupted data is stored.
If you have any problems with retuning then please supply the TV's full model number.

Mike O'Pray: What I was really getting at is, that the carrying out of a factory reset is the only guaranteed way to completely delete everything stored in a TV or boxes memory whereby you are starting afresh, as in some brands of equipment a simple auto-tune does not necessarily clear the list of everything stored and which can cause all sorts of tuning problems dependant on the brand of equipment being used.
This can also affect a manual tune, and taking Sandy Heath as an example if programmes were stored in the EPG list from the old SDN frequency (Ch31) and mux channel 51 was selected for a manual tune to update the list, then on a Panasonic and a few others although the tuner might find the programmes that's moved mux 51 it will still not store them associated with the new operating channel, this making it whereby if EPG10 (ITV3) is selected a "no signal received" message might be displayed as the box considers that these programmes are still on the previous frequency.
Its just that there isn't really a standard for this type procedure and the results obtained can vary quite considerably from brand to brand, but whatever it might be its always best to start afresh.
If you have found that all is OK then that's the luck of the draw, but unless factory resets are carried out before retuning then the results obtained will always have an element of hit and miss attached to them.

Mike O'Pray: As was previously stated by Steven P the "factory reset" facility can vary from box to box and indeed is not even an option on some devices, and so to determine if this might be the case with whatever you are using if you provide the model number of the device this can be checked on, as on back tracking through your various postings I don't see it mentioned anywhere.

Brian Smith: Its difficult for anyone to offer advice when you haven't mentioned your location, (pref: post code or one nearby) as its not possible to assess the signal strengths expected in your area from whatever transmitter that might be covering it.
Maybe you could also mention the model number of the TV or box that you are using.
