paul: To tune Belmont in manually take the aerial out and carry out a scan without it, this will blank out anything stored, then reconnect the aerial and go into the tuning menu selecting "manual tune", entering Mux Ch22 (BBC1) and select searching, storing channels found, then in the same menu enter Mux Ch25 (ITV1), searching and storing as before.
Depending on the menu of whatever TV or box is being used you can then select "search for other channels" to add the remaining four multiplexes, "if" the device has that facility, otherwise you will have to load the rest manually using exactly the same procedure every time.
Channels being : Mux Ch28 (only for HD) - Mux Ch30 (ITV3 etc) - Mux Ch53 - MuxCh60, note though the latter two multiplexes are on much lower power until the 23rd of November, so you may not receive them very well.

Paul: Do what I had mentioned re: Belmont as regards to taking the aerial out and scanning without it to blank the stored channels out, but BEFORE reconnecting the aerial again carry out a re-scan "whilst at the same time" observing the channels rising in the progress bar, then as soon as you see it passing Ch38 immediately re-connect the aerial and that will allow Emley to load.
Any problems with the result may require manual tuning, but you can give an update as necessary.

Glen R: Well the problem of being in a dip really (or maybe partially) says it all! as your local Gravesend station only indicates reception being possible on BBC1 until the 18th of April 2012 when stage 2 takes place, although Rouncefall (18mls) / Sudbury (43mls) does presently indicate good reception on the main multiplexes, these two stations being on a single frequency (SFN) - Mux Ch44(BBC1) - Mux Ch41(ITV1) - Mux Ch47(HD)
Crystal Palace (20 miles) Mux Ch25 (BBC1) as well as ArqA & B are also indicated as being possible, but in my opinion not at satisfactory levels to be relied upon.
As far as Bluebell Hill is concerned, only Mux Ch42 (ArqA) - Mux Ch39 (ArqB) and Mux Ch45 (MuxB) are shown as possible on a variable basis.
In your type of situation a person really has to try using different aerial positions, as the signal could well be found to be much better at one end of a building over the other end, and height doesn't always play an important factor either, something I have mentioned numerous times to various people in areas of difficult reception, as the chimney is not by any means always the best position, even if still on the roof!

darrell: Its extremely unusual (although not impossible!)for an aerial amplifier of the type you mention to go faulty, are you positive that the problem is not connected with your TV?
If the green light is on then that indicates that the DC side of the unit is working, that is if its the type that indicates red if a short occurs anywhere in the co-ax line.
I would normally say that you should try connecting the downlead straight into the TV, and likewise by-passing the amp in the loft, but I suspect that the downlead (and amp) might be terminated in "F" type plugs, this making this a bit difficult for you without "F" to co-ax adaptors.
What you could do though is to ask someone to observe the green light whilst you go into the loft and quickly temporarily short the co-ax plug on the downlead, if the green light turns red then its the amplifier at fault. By the way you will not harm the power unit by doing that, although a test meter would obviously have been preferential to check this.
(Its not an amplified log you are referring to is it?)

Donald Thomas: Yes, as SteveP has mentioned try removing your boosters, if thats what they are? and not just splitters which generally only have a mild boosting effect.
If if find that by removing the splitter your reception comes back, remember that you might have to re-scan though if BBC1 is not in the EPG, then you can still use your splitter if you purchase a simple attenuator to place in line with the splitters input from the aerial, provided that its not powering a mast head amp!

Mark Fletcher: Just a little query, what box are you using to carry out these tests on? the only reason I ask being, that when auto- tuning on most boxes in situations where two stations can be received at the one time, if the box experiences a second multiplex with the same status of one already stored, then it usually stores it up in the 800 ranges of channels and doesnt reject it.
In other words are you using a box with a regional scanning selecting facility?

Dave Davies: Any device used for receiving Freeview has to be fitted with a DVB-T2 tuner to be able to receive HD, not DVB-T, thats the problem with a multitude of TV's seen about that have a label stating "HD Ready", insomuch they can only show an HD quality image if connected to an external HD device, and are not not actually capable of receiving it.

Jimmi James: When you last re-scanned your box has most likely stored Emley Moor rather than Waltham.
To avoid having to manually tune the latter, remove your aerial and carry out a scan without it, this will blank the EPG memory, then BEFORE re-connecting start an auto-tune whilst at the same time observing the channels rising in the progress bar, then as soon as they pass Ch52 immediately re connect the aerial and that will allow Waltham to load.

Tim: I would be inclined to either carry out a factory reset, or alternatively blank out the EPG stored by scanning without the aerial being connected, then after re-connecting same make a further re-scan.
The point is though that "if" you are receiving SDN/D3&4 then there isnt really a fault as far as actual reception is concerned.
