Dianne: Just in addition to that said, Samsung TV's use a range of different menu formats making it difficult to pass precise instructions without knowing the model involved hence reason requesting it, not of course that this always makes that much of a difference! but the procedure to use is scrub everything stored by carrying out a factory reset, or alternatively removing the aerial and carrying out an auto-tune which "should" (exceptions apply) blank out the channel memory.
Once completed reconnect the aerial and go into the tuning menu - manual tune and enter the following channels used by Waltham one at a time, scanning each and storing the results.
61(BBC) - 54(ITV1) - 58(HD) - 29(ITV3 etc) - 56(PICK TV etc) - 57(ITV4 etc)
After having done this check if your model has an automatic channel updating facility, if it has then this should be switched off.
Although this info is given it depends on what transmitter your aerial is facing towards?

Jubaer: Have a look at the aerials shown on the link and in particular the Log 40 or the DM Log, as either of these aerials are perfectly adequate for your requirements as well as being able to withstand the severest of weather conditions, not of course that you are likely to experience that sort of thing!

Bonnie: Where is your aerial located? my only reason for asking being that "if" (as I realise you might not) you reside in the beige brick properties then the aerials mounted at each end of them appear to be of a communal nature serving the apartments within each block, and as such obviously out with your control as far as doing anything is concerned.
However the reception predictor indicates Crystal Palace as being able to provide a good signal at your location, but though the aerials referred to appear to be pointing towards Guildford and likewise mounted vertically, and although Guildford is also indicated as receivable at your location its not quite at Crystal Palace levels.
That said, if your box has a manual tuning facility then for a test go into the tuning menu - "manual tune" and enter Ch23 (BBC from Crystal Palace) then press search or scan and see if anything comes up, if not change to number to Ch43 (BBC Guildford) and carry out the same test, giving an update on results.
It would also be of assistance to know the brand / model of box you are using.

Mazbar: Fully agree as far as that side of things are concerned as you make a very valid point, but I was just giving a pointer as to the type of aerials that would be suffice for his requirements "should" he find anyone competent enough to carry out the task properly as every man to his own job, and of course installing an aerial is most certainly NOT in the remit of the average builder.

T B Jones: Its impossible for anyone to be able to offer advice without having knowledge of your location, this in the form of a post code or one from nearby, such as a shop etc.

Ruth Hughes: When you cancel your contract with Sky as well as them blocking reception of their package channels they will also disable the access code used for the recording / playback side of the Sky+ boxes, and so if you have anything you wish to retain then you will have to transfer it to an external recorder.
The best policy is for you to purchase a Freesat PVR (recorder) as its fully compatible with a Sky box as far as the inputs from the dish are concerned, of course you still wont be able to record any of the previous programmes you viewed "if" they were a dedicated part of a Sky package.
You can check what you will, or will not be able to view by simply removing the Sky card.

Jon: The two "F" connectors you see should be straight from the dish and can only be used for satellite reception and nothing else, this meaning either a Sky+ box or a twin tuner Freesat (PVR) recorder, if though an ordinary Freesat box was used then only one lead (any of the two) is required and so the second lead could be used for another Freesat box located elsewhere, with of course a suitable extension coax being arranged.
If you have a Freeview TV and nothing is received "on a rescan" using the aerial socket, then there really isn't anything you can do except to make some physical checks on the aerial / cable to.

Gerry C.: On checking the channels used by the stations mentioned indications are that anything from 66 upwards as being perfectly OK for the Sky+ boxes RF output to be set to, as the highest channel number used by any of the transmitters is Camlough on Ch64 analogue.
Should however you wish to use lower numbers then 21 - 37 appears OK for your reception area including when changes take place from October 10th.

Rowland: Well my comments were made based on a visual check of your location and which as was previously mentioned do not look promising for reliable Freeview reception, basically because of the density of the trees that surround you.
That said, the trade reception predictor "does" indicate that good reception is possible in your area, however and as aforementioned, that's in theory as the predictions given do not take account of any local conditions that may apply such as your tree problem.
But though to be able to assess things better maybe you could give an update on the aerial system used as well as the approximate direction its facing as well as the way its mounted, vertically (elements up & down) or horizontally (flat).
By the way Panasonic tuners are excellent, and so the sometimes usual problem of the device being used lacking in sensitivity shouldn't really come into the equation.

Noel: I cant really see your situation improving until October 24th when Divis (@ 32 miles) switches over to full power operation, as the multiplex that ITV4 uses is only transmitting on 1.6 Kw whereas it will 50kw as from the date mentioned, the reception in your area presently predicted as being non existent on some channels and poor on others, the ArqB mux that ITV4 uses being the only one of the five with a prediction in the green, this being good. (in theory anyway!).
