mike smith.I was right.I did forecast the BBC2 analogue signal will be switched off permanently around 12:25am (0025 hours),after the programme "The Choir:Military Wives" had ended.By the time this text goes up DSO1 will have just commenced, its high powered BBCA multiplex on ch 55 will be by now broadcasting from the new mast on full 100kw power.Just so you know the low powered Mux1 from the old mast is also now forever switched off minutes after the BBC2 analogue signal disappeared. As i mentioned in my earlier text don't worry about some duplicated channels namely BBC4,BBC Parliament,303 and Ceebies going onto the 800+ programming list, this is normal until DSO2 is completed in 2 weeks time on Wednesday 23 November 2011 when the remaining four analogue channels BBC1 East,ITV1 Anglia,Channel 4 and Channel 5,along with low powered pre-digital swichover mux's 2,A,B,C,D are all switched off for good from the old mast, and the remaining 5 high powered mux's D3+4,BBCB (HD),SDN,ArqA and ArqB (all each 100kw powered mux's) being switched on from the new mast.

mike Roberts.Wigan.From a terrestrial point of view receiving Bilsdale transmissions from both the present analogue and currently lower powered pre-digital signals anywhere within North West England now up to their DSO come September 2012,the answer is yes in the case of analogue but only snowy broadcasts and only in the area you mentioned on the far eastern fringes of North West England, one possible area being east of Clitheroe. In the case of lower powered pre-digital switched signals, the answer most likely is no.However come DSO when analogue and low-power pre-digital signals are eventually turned off for good,is is a possibly that the three 100kw high powered mux's from Bilsdale BBCA,D3+4,BBCB (HD),can be received over a wider area namely around Clitheroe (50kw SDN,ArqA,ArqB mux's maybe ?),and other eastern fringes of North West England, but that possibly is it.

Stephen Lyon.Hard to say without a full postcode. Also you failed to specify what make and model your Dual PVR is.As such all i can say is if you are now unable to receive the high powered BBCA multiplex on ch 55,then come DSO2 on Wednesday 23 November 2011 you will also be unable to receive the remaining high powered multiplexes from Tacolneston.Your box probably does not support the 8k mode and as such unless you replace it then come DSO in under 2 weeks time (Wed 23 Nov 2011) all your new high powered digital channels will not be received at all leaving you with no channels whatsoever on your present Dual PVR that you currently possess.

Keith Sheppard.Hard to say without a full postcode. In relation to your aerial,if it is coloured red at the tip then its a group A,yellow a group B,green a group C/D,brown a group E,grey a group K,black a group W or simply a wideband aerial. If as you mentioned you receive an adequate signal from Crystal Palace and your aerial is a group A then it will be coloured red at the tip.If it is black at the tip then its a group W wideband, however if your in a good to medium reception area within Crystal Palace then a group W wideband is ok,but not within a poor or marginal area within Crystal Palace itself as it is an all group A mast both at present and remaining so after DSO in April 2012.In relation to Hannington this transmiter is offically a group E transmitter although the analogue Channel 5 is broadcasting on frequency 35,on a group A band, but a superior group E aerial will be able to pick up channels as low as frequency 31.If you prefer Hannington (horizontally polarised obviously) then if your current aerial is a group A (red bung at the end),then replace it with either a group B Yagi 18B,or group E Yagi 18E or if you have to a group W wideband XB22WB X Beam antenna. If you want to you can diplex the group B or group E aerial with a much newer group A Yagi 18A for the com7,com8,com9 multiplexes on Hannington (on frequencies 32,34,36 respectively from 2013-16),the diplexer on frequency 38 will hopefully avoid any potential interference with the BBCB (HD) multiplex on frequency 39 come Wednesday 22 February 2012.But if you prefer the one aerial option come DSO at Hannington then the group W wideband XB22WB antenna is the safest option, although the group K Yagi 18K between ch's 21-48 will just about give coverage to the local mux on frequency 51 from 2013 onwards.Your safest bet is to replace your current old aerial with much newer options i suggested above, using also newer satellite grade co-ax cable (not inferior ones from DIY stores) and using importantly of course brass co-ax plugs, not alloy or worse still cheap plastic plugs.

Louise.Todmorden.Hard to say without a full postcode.First of all is your aerial mounted outside,in the loft or an inside set top antenna, and more importantly is it polarised vertically or horizontally. As JB38 correctly informs most of Todmorden itself have external vertically polarised antenna's and only a small minority have external horizontally polarised aerials, some towards Emley Moor but a few especially the high ground parts of Todmorden can pick up signals from Winter Hill.Having twice previously resided in Todmorden myself,Walsden OL14 7SJ (different house numbers though) the town is home to five relay transmitters Cornholme,Lydgate,Todmorden,Walsden and Walsden South (all Freeview lite masts) although the far south of Walsden can tune into Freeview Lite broadcasts from the Littleborough relay which have BBC1 North West and ITV1 Granada programming. If you stated you ditched Sky but still retain the satellite dish outside have you considered Freesat which is subscription free satellite TV considering Todmorden in general will hardly ever receive SDN,ArqA and ArqB multiplexes from Freeview terrestrial TV whatsoever, only BBCA,D3+4 and for some BBCB (HD) on either Freeview HD (+) boxes,or full HD 1080p TV sets with Freeview HD built in.
