Below are all of Mark Fletcher's postings, with the most recent are at the bottom of the page.Looking through this page another potential frequency clash on ch 51,once Emley Moor's SDN mux presently on ch 51 is relocated to ch 39,Winter Hill's ArqA mux currently on ch 61 relocates to ch 51,but Waltham's BBCA mux currently on ch 61 relocates to ch 51 hence the frequency clash at a future date,this clash could affect viewers in parts of the Peak District area which is overlapped by main transmitters Winter Hill,Waltham and Emley Moor.Presently mux's on both ch's 58 & 61 at both Winter Hill and Waltham are already clashing,this being a problem in parts of the Peak District area itself.

Briantist.Well,Winter Hill's ArqA on ch 61,BBCA on ch 62,plus Waltham's BBCA on ch 61 will all have to be relocated probably by 2013 onwards to clear the 798+ MHz bands for the future 4G mobile phone network frequencies between ch's 61-68 or 69.When they do end up relocated elsewhere,it will be very interesting where they end up especially in the case of Winter Hill.

In the case of Bilsdale after DSO2 from Wednesday 26 September 2012,a group K aerial will give a slightly better performance than the group W wideband aerials.However those in the overlap Bilsdale/Emley Moor area within North Yorkshire such as York city for example who watch both Bilsdale and Emley Moor transmissions on diplexed aerials,should diplex a group K aerial directed towards Bilsdale,and on this occasion a group W wideband aerial directed towards Emley Moor.

Alan Fumagalli,Bridlington.Rest assured that once Tacolneston goes fully digital on Wednesday 23 November 2011 the two currently under strength mux's at Belmont ArqA on ch 53 & ArqB on ch 60 will increase in power from 4kw to 100kw a 25 times increase.

Sammisdat.The BBCA mux on ch 43 yer referring to,West Midlands is the Sutton Coldfield transmitter.Difficult to say without a full postcode.If you only want Waltham transmissions first step delete all your channels.Unplug either freeview box or IDTV from the mains,unplug your aerial either from freeview box or IDTV,wait roughly 30 seconds,plug either freeview box or IDTV back in,keep your aerial plugged out for now and perform a complete automatic scan (if you have this function) from ch's 21 to 68 (or 69).It will completely fail,in other words your channel line up will be empty,but in doing so it clears the memory so after this replug your aerial back in to your freeview box or IDTV and rescan again.If you have a manual scanning function,scan SDN ch29,D3+4 ch54,ArqA ch56,ArqB ch57,BBCB ch58 (if your freeview box is HD,or your IDTV is (full) HD) BBCA ch61,these are Waltham transmitter mux's.However if you do not have a manual scanning option,then you will have to do an automatic scan but in this instance,keep your aerial plugged out until ch 27 is reached,plug aerial in,once SDN ch29 is stored unplug your aerial again after ch31,because between ch39 to ch46 are Sutton Coldfield's 6 multiplexes,replug your aerial back in when it reaches ch52 for the other Waltham multiplexes i described earlier above will store between ch54 and ch61,and to be on the safe side unplug your aerial after ch63 until the automatic scanning procedure is completed when it should hopefully go onto programme no1 BBC1,but with no signal,now replug your aerial back in and you will get your TV signals back hopefully with just the Waltham transmissions that you require,and no Sutton Coldfield transmissions whatsoever.

Andrew.The SDN,ArqA & ArqB mux's from the main Oxford transmitter are transmitting on lower power not to save electricity,it is more a case of avoiding clashes with nearby regional transmitters/relays that are either now all digital,or still broadcasting analogue and low powered pre-digital switched signals using the same frequencies as that of the Oxford mast,more so the current understrength SDN ch62,ArqA ch59 & ArqB ch 55 mux's which had they're been on full power by now will affect nearby transmitters/relays broadcasting on ch 55,ch59,ch62 whether already digitally switched or still broadcasting analogue/lower powered pre-digital switched signals.Im sure the true pros on here,Briantist,Mike Dimmick,JB 38,etc,will give more professional assistance as such.

Garry Walker.Tuesday 26 July 2011,11.54 pm.Wembley.Is your aerial horizontally polarised and if so is it directed towards the main Crystal Palace transmitter.If so,your new high-gain group W wideband aerial which you specified is of no use for Crystal Palace as all their multiplexes are on the group A frequencies between ch22 and ch30. (Com7 ch33,com8 ch35 & com9 ch36 at a future date,projected 2013-2016).In poor reception or marginal areas within all group A frequencied transmitters such as Crystal Palace as an example,only group A aerials should be fitted,never a group W wideband aerial as they're somewhat useless on group A frequencies (low signal gain being commonplace).If you can afford it,ditch or keep to one side the so-called group W wideband that you have and get a group A aerial,either a Yagi 18A or XB16A installed either on its own or diplex what i suggested above a group A antenna with the group W wideband antenna that you have.Just one reminder there is no such thing as a high gain group W wideband aerial,and not really recommended for use on all group A transmitters in a poor reception or marginal area such as Crystal Palace and Caradon Hill being prime examples !

Michael.Monday 24 October 2011,12.06pm.Difficult to say without a full postcode,possibly Single frequency interference could be a cause,but you need to be more specific such as what aerial is it pointing to,and what aerial group,plus is it IDTV or Freeview HD box (or +HD),is it directed horizontally (to a main transmitter) or vertically (to a relay).Is it only the BBCB (HD) multiplex yer experiencing this problem,or are the other multiplexes affected to a degree.

Andy Leeds.Your neighbour whose aerial i presume is horizontally polarised which i assume is directed towards Bilsdale (BBC1 North East & Cumbria,ITV1 Tyne-Tees) will have to wait until Wednesday 12 September 2012 (DSO1) and 2 weeks later (DSO2) on Wed 26 Sept 2012 to get much improved high powered digital signals from Bilsdale as at present it is broadcasting both analogue and much lower powered pre digital signals,hence as you implied their reception gets screwed when a bus,etc,goes past.Incidentally when DSO comes to Bilsdale by September 2012,your locality could become an overlapped Emley Moor/Bilsdale (Belmont possibly ?) area,with potential dis/advantages,the advantages being choices of either diplexing a group K aerial (Yagi 18K or XB16K antenna) towards Bilsdale and a group W wideband aerial (probably in your location a Log Periodic will do) towards Emley Moor.The disadvantage possibly if Belmont can be received in your locality being a three main transmitter area overlap.In the case of Belmont which is officially a group W wideband mast,a Yagi or X beam is required to pick up stable Belmont signals in Leeds LS12 area,but most of Belmont's mux's (except for 2 mux's in group C/D band) are on group A frequencies.One option in this scenario would be diplexing a group A aerial with either a group E (recommended),or as a last resort with a group W wideband aerial as their antennas have a poor response on group A frequencies (low signal gains on the lowest frequencies being commonplace).
