Chris.SE: I can assure you very few aerial riggers are making a killing, first you have your stock to buy, aerial, mast, bracket, lashing, coax, tape, clips, f connector and coax plug if you are neat hole tidy. Then you need your meter, ladders, cat ladder, your van and van insurance service your van and diesel. You also need public liability insurance. Then you have your tax 20% and then 9%. If you take credit card you pay a percentage mine is 1.75%. You will also need your equipment like drills and tools. After all that you have your profits for one of the most dangerous jobs you can do.

MikeP: here's a simple one for you. I quite regularly see 100% signal strength and quality on TVs that have a signal of 45dbuv this is at the bottom end of what signal should be for perfect reception. You will see the same signal on the tv if you are getting 85dbuv. You can only tell if you have too much signal with a proper meter not what is in the tv or freeview box. Put quite simply the 100% what a TVs show is quite useless. If it is running through a amplifier sometime they go faulty and cause break up on channels and not on others you can only test on a meter and see the signal bouncing around.
