Avril Rickards: They never announce how long the work will take, but it will almost certainly be complete by the end of the day as engineers don't tend to like working up a mast in the dark. Do not attempt to retune.

Rob Thompson: According to the post above yours, there was engineering work taking place yesterday. It's likely that the work is continuing today. Do not attempt to retune.

Adrian: According to Digital UK the current allocations are 32/54/58/48/33/52/36/35 (also 51 if you're within the local mux coverage area). There will be further changes on 5th and 19th June. If you put your postcode into the Digital UK checker and tick detailed view it will show you all current and future mux allocations predicted to be receivable at your location.

John Smith : There are no faults or engineering work showing for Kilvey Hill. Have you checked for any loose or damaged cables or connections behind your TV? Do not attempt to retune if you have a weak signal as this will not fix the problem and will quite likely make it worse.

Iain Davies: COM5 moved to UHF channel 33 at Mendip last year, so most viewers having issues with C/D group aerials should have noticed and done something about it already. There were on-screen notification messages broadcast the day before the change. Don't forget there is a scheme to provide free replacement wideband aerials to affected viewers who don't have satellite or cable (see link below).

Gemmerx: There were frequency changes at Mendip on 4th April. If retuning doesn't restore the missing channels, give the Freeview Advice Line a call (see link above).

HJ Roan: If you're in the Torbay area and have lost channels such as BBC Four HD, BBC News HD, 4Seven HD, etc then this is because the COM7 & COM8 multiplexes which carry these channels (and various others) have closed at the Beacon Hill transmitter.

Robert: The BBC overall doesn't make a profit. The profits generated from it's commercial arm (BBC Studioworks etc) are reinvested back into funding UK programming. Without it, either the licence fee would have to be higher or the BBC wouldn't be able to produce as many programs.

Gammerx: The retunes in June will see further multiplexes move to new frequency allocations. If you have a fault now, you should contact the Freeview Advice Line, as you have quoted above. Any viewer who has reception issues following the recent frequency change (where there wasn't a pre-existing fault) and who doesn't also have satellite or cables will be eligible to have a replacement wideband aerial fitted free of charge. This must be arranged by contacting the Freeview Advice Line, they won't reimburse you for the cost of having work carried out by anyone else.
