Phil: According to Digital UK, the Hutton relay is changing frequencies and increasing power output on 19th June. You will likely need a new aerial (if your existing one isn't wideband) as the transmitter is changing from Group C/D to Group A frequencies. This should be available free of charge if you don't have satellite or cable.

andrew cresswell: The main transmitter at Mendip (and some of its relays) changed frequencies on 5th June, this has nothing to do with reliability which is generally very good (major transmitter failures are rare - most of the problems that exist are often found to be at the viewer's end). Some of the frequencies now in use are outside of the band which many of the aerials previously installed were designed to receive, and therefore require replacing with wideband aerials. Most viewers who don't have satellite or cable will be eligible for this work to be carried out free of charge, which can be arranged by contacting the Freeview Advice Line (see link below).

Natalie: If you're seeing a version of BBC 1 on 800 or higher it means that the TV has picked it up as a duplicate from another transmitter. Which version of BBC 1 do you get on LCN 1? Please provide a full postcode so that we can see which transmitters cover your location, where you are in relation to them and your predicted signal strength etc. Also, have you checked for any loose or damaged cables or connections behind your TV?

MikeP: It won't give them more money, it is to replace the money lost from the government's decision to cut funding for the free TV Licences.

Peter Day: Freeview is broadcast from ground-based transmitters, not via satellite and certainly can't be received as far away as Spain. You may be able to get some UK channels via satellite with a large enough dish. Best thing would be to talk to a local satellite installer, who should know what is possible in that area.

A Lloyd: You seem to be mixing up two completely different types of changes. The frequency changes are to free up the 700MHz band for mobile services. That has no connection with channel number changes, which are decided by the owner of those channels choosing to promote one of their other channels to a lower channel number. It is Smithsonian Channel's decision to broadcast on a cheaper multiplex with a lower level of coverage, not Freeview, who are just an organisation setup to carry out marketing for the UK's Digital Terrestrial TV (DTT) platform and have no control over how it is operated.

Dennis Anthony: Check which UHF channels your TV is tuned into if it has a manual tuning function. You can see an up to date list of which UHF channels are used by which transmitter by entering your postcode into the Digital UK checker at the link below.

Derek Black: I'm seeing the same lack of EPG data for Sky's channels on Freeview. It's probably just an error preventing the data getting through. I very much doubt that they're leaving and no retune has been announced.

Distanza Orr: Do all of the flats use the same communal aerial system? If they do, you should contact whoever is responsible for maintenance and get them to send someone to investigate.
