Richard Trotman: COM7 is expected to close when it's licence expires on 30th June 2022 so it will never be broadcast from Redruth. Nothing has been announced regarding what will happen to the channels currently carried on COM7 once the multiplex closes.

Daniel: Try checking a TV guide, there are several free ones available online. This is an independent technical help website which is not connected with any broadcaster or channel, nobody here is likely to have any further information when any particular programme will be shown.

Tony Hill: Nothing has been announced regarding what will happen with any of the channels currently carried on COM7. They may all disappear or some could take capacity on other multiplexes, if any becomes available and the broadcaster is willing to pay.

Full technical details of Freeview
Monday 3 January 2022 7:07PM

Glen Lucas: Putting that postcode into the detailed coverage checker on Freeview's corporate website gives a prediction of strong signal from both Pontop Pike (222 degrees compass bearing) and Chatton (336 degrees bearing) transmitters. A weak signal is predicted from the temporary mast at Bilsdale Quarry, so maybe he just needs to turn the aerial around to point at a different transmitter.

Norman Stones: Caldbeck won't be available as there are too many hills in the way, but If you provide a full postcode we can check whether you are predicted to be able to receive anything from Lancaster or another full service transmitter at your location.

Richard Owen: The 1st generation analogue mobile networks run by Cellnet (now O2) and Vodafone were closed down around 20 years ago and the frequencies were reused to expand capacity the 2G GSM digital networks. Those frequencies in the 900MHz range have never been used for broadcasting and are outside of the range that UHF TV aerials are designed to receive.

BBC Three's channel number hasn't been announced yet but according to Ofcom rules it has to be within the first 24 positions on Freeview (LCN 24 is currently used for BBC Four in Scotland and there are no lower unused numbers so there will have to be a reshuffle to accommodate BBC Three).

Eirian Williams: That sounds like your TV has picked up one or more multiplexes from another transmitter during a retune. If you provide a full postcode we can see which transmitters are predicted to be available at your location and offer more specific advice.

Irene Lindsay: Transmitter engineers don't fix faults with aerials in people's homes, they only work on the transmitter network. The people who carried out the work in your loft were probably working for Restore TV, who are the organisation set up and funded by the mobile networks to resolve problems caused by the 800MHz and more recent 700MHz clearances and who also supply free filters to block interference from the 4G and 5G signals now using those frequency bands. The phone number you mentioned is the Freeview retune advice line which was setup to assist people who list signal when the frequency clearance changes took place. They would not be able to send out anyone to fix any other fault with your aerial system.

If the fault has been ongoing for a long time and you have checked for any loose or damaged cables or connections behind your TV you would be advised to contact a local aerial installer.
