Mr Guy M J Thair: Have you checked all the cables and connections behind your TV to make sure there is nothing loose or damaged? Have you checked with any neighbours as to whether anyone else is suffering the same problem. Please provide a full postcode so we can see where you are in relation to the transmitter and predicted signal strength etc.

peterjennings: There are no reported problem on the Clun Freeview transmitter page (this is the Clun DAB page). Have you checked for any loose or damaged cables or connections behind your TV?

Ogilvie Jackson: This website has nothing to do with any broadcaster or the company that runs the transmitters, so we don't any any further information than what is shown in the transmitter engineering posts which appear on each transmitter's page. If Digital UK say there are weak signals then there is probably some sort of engineering work taking place, but I know nothing regarding the nature of the work or how long it will take to complete, although any reduction in signal strength is generally only for a few hours at a time during the day as it is very rare for engineering work to continue during primetime evening viewing or overnight.

r green: Please provide a full postcode so we can see where you are in relation to the transmitter and your predicted signal strength etc. Are your other TVs connected to the same aerial? If they are (and if practical to do so) take the TV with missing channels to one of the working ones and connect it to the aerial and retune to restore the missing channels. This will confirm if the fault is with the cable from the aerial (or splitter/amplifier if all your TVs use the same aerial).

Tony: There are no faults showing for the Dover transmitter, although faults don't always show straight away so it would be worth asking your neighbours whether their Freeview is still working. If you have multiple TVs fed from the same aerial, you may well have an amplifier or powered splitter so that would be the first place to check if it has been damaged or the power supply may have failed.

P A Johnson: There does appear to have been work taking place at Bluebell Hill within the last few days, however I couldn't see anything to suggest that there was any planned work taking place today. Have you checked behind your TV for any loose or damaged cables or connections? Also, posting your phone number online is not advised and is only likely to result in unwanted calls rather than a response from any broadcaster or transmitter company. There was no need to post your full address either, just a postcode would have been sufficient.

David Gray: You would be better off looking at getting a roof aerial mounted in your loft, or just getting your existing aerial moved to another location on the roof where the birds will be less of a problem. Swindon is some distance from the Oxford transmitter and reception on the best indoor aerial still won't be anywhere near as good as using a proper rooftop or loft mounted aerial.

r green: That all points to be fault being somewhere in the cables or connections between the splitter/amplifier and the point where you are loosing channels. Do you know where the splitter/amplifier is that all of your aerial sockets connect back to? Try swapping the cable from that socket to the TV with one from another socket that you know works. If the problem remains, unscrew the socket and check the cable is fully attached on the back and that there are no loose strands of the outer metal braid or foil touching the inner conductor, causing a short circuit. If that looks good, go to the splitter/amplifier and try swapping the cable from the point where you are missing channels with one that you know works. If the fault remains, you have further confirmation that the fault is somewhere within that cable rather than the splitter/amplifier or anywhere else.

Alan hardy: Magic is broadcast on the D1 national multiplex which has several transmitters covering South Yorkshire, if you can give a more exact location someone may be able to offer more specific advice. Does your car radio have a manual tuning function? If it does, try tuning block 11D which should give you Magic and a number of other national commercial stations such as Classic FM, Absolute, Talk Sport, Radio X, etc.

Keith: Which satellite receiver box are you using? If it's a Sky box the region is set by the address the viewing card is registered to, Freesat boxes set their region by asking for a postcode during the initial setup. Generic free to air receivers will vary, so check the instructions.
