Since the thunder storm today, 22 June 2017, I have no TV signal to any of the TV sets in my house, I cannot find a telephone number to enquire whether there is a transmitter problem or whether my aerial has been fried by the Lightning. Help!

Tony: There are no faults showing for the Dover transmitter, although faults don't always show straight away so it would be worth asking your neighbours whether their Freeview is still working. If you have multiple TVs fed from the same aerial, you may well have an amplifier or powered splitter so that would be the first place to check if it has been damaged or the power supply may have failed.

Canterbury

Since yesterday around midday my freeview signal has been very weak and no channels are playing correctly or without pixelation and lost sound. I am based in Canterbury CT2... never had issues like this, aerial all looks ok as does signal booster!

David Tyler:

I believe that Ramsgate is served by the Dover Freeview transmitter, please correct me if that is incorrect.

Dover transmitter is a full service Freeview transmitter but it does not carry COM7 nor COM8. Forces TV is brodcast using capacity on COM8, so as Dover does not broadcast that you will not be able to receive it until the channel re-allocation occurs and Forces TV appears on a different multiplex, probably after March next year (according to the data hugher up this page).

Isn't the 'Dover Frequency Change' misleading or incorrect? My understnanding from the is that only the 'SDN' mulitplex is moving in Mar 2018 and that will be to Channel 35. The other moves will trake place later.

Julian Hicks: According to Digital UK, SDN/COM4 will move to UHF 35 on 21st March 2018, with PSB1 moving to UHF 33 in Summer 2019, then finally PSB2/3 & COM5 moving to UHF 35/36 & 42 in late 2019. I suspect this website's database wasn't designed with multiple stepped changes such as this in mind.

StevensOnln1: when will freeview channels 94 and 96 be available from the Dover transmitter?

7:50 PM

David Tyler: PBS America and Forces TV are both on the temporary COM8 multiplex which is broadcast (along with COM7) from 30 main transmitter sites covering around 75% of UK households. Coverage of COM7/8 will not be expanded to any further transmitters and both are expected to close some time between 2020 and 2022. So far the only channel to move from COM7/8 to a multiplex with wider coverage is Talking Pictures, which moved on 30th November 2017. No other broadcasters have made any announcements about what will happen to their channels on COM7/8 long term.
