From Wikipedia: The channel had been available from launch on UPC Ireland, but was pulled on 22 March 2006. The channel had already been and remains available to Irish viewers on free-to-air satellite for some time, however it has not been listed in the Sky electronic programme guide since its removal on 25 January 2006. ITV3 took its channel number and bandwidth meaning all platforms could be launched simultaneously. - en.wikipedia.org en.wikipedia.org link icon read more about ITV3 +1 on wikipedia (summary by Clipped).

What is the difference between the channels and those with a+ in their name?

Elizabeth:

You would do better to ask the specific broadcaster that. This website has no connection with any broadcaster so we regular contributors are unlikely to know.

ELIZABETH: Hi, Elizabeth. If there is a '+ symbol in the channel name it is usually followed by the number '1'. This means that the channel shows what WAS on the channel without the '+1' one hour ago. I hope that this makes sense to you. For example, if I missed 'Neighbours' when it showed on Channel Five at 5:30 p.m., I could go to Channel Five +1 at 6:30 p.m. and watch Neighbours on there, so it gives you the opportunity to catch up on a programme you missed the start of an hour ago. In this way, it can be useful if you miss the start of a drama episode or something because you can start watching it one hour after it started on the channel without the '+1'. Hopefully, with these examples, you will have understood 'my drift'. Richard in Norwich.
