Film4+1 has jumped from Channel 45 to Channel 790 on Freeview.

An on screen message states that Film4+1 will be available to Freeview HD viewers from 20th November 2014 when a retune will be necessary. However, it will still be broadcast in Standard Definition. It will be located on Channel 45 on the EPG.

Freeview SD viewers will lose the channel after that date.

It seems a shame that a public funded channel, is not available to be viewed by the ones who fund it. please put it back on freeeview.

mark phillips:

It is available from many transmitters - but you need a TV set or set-top box with an HD capable tuner of the DVB-T2 type. These are found in sets that are true HD capable and able to received Freeview HD. It has to be said that Film4+1 is actually broadcast in SD mode but an HD tuner is needed to get it.

mark phillips: I don't think you are correct. Its parent channel has been a scrambled subscription channel but became free to view in the early days of Freeview and supported by advertising. In fact more people can probably view it as it is now on one or the public service muxes so anyone in a FreeviewLite relay area and has a DVB-T2 capable receiver can now get it having been previously denied it as it was on a COM mux available only from main sites. Anyone with any sort of satellite receiver getting programmes from Astra 2 can still get it.

Note: On 10/01/2019 Film4+1 was moved from BBCB/PSB3 to MuxD3+D4/PSB2
This means that all users can now receiver Film4+1, even if their TV can not decode the High-Definition channels.
Room was made by removing the Sewing Quart channel from PSB2.

Further, Channel 4 is a commercial channel supported by advertising mainly, as is ITV, Channel 5, etc.
