Christopher Webber: It has been widely publicised that COM7 and COM8 will be on C55 & C56 forming a single frequency network following the frequency changes at each transmitter that carries them. It is not shown in the table above because the end column shows frequency allocations following the 700MHz clearance at each transmitter, hence COM7 & COM8 not being shown post 700MHz clearance on any transmitter as they will close at completion of the 700MHz clearence in 2020.

There has been no announcement of any further multiplexes changing to DVB-T2 and it would be very unlikely that such a change would be made with as little as 1 years notice. I would speculate that 2020 would be the earliest any further multiplexes would change to DVB-T2 as that will be the point where the additional capacity provided by COM7 and COM8 will be lost.

Christopher Webber: I didn't say there will never be a change to DVB-T2, I said that none had been announced yet. It is widely expected that it will happen eventually and that PSB channels will switch to HD only output. Both the government and BBC have said in the past that this is the plan long term (and switching BBCA/PSB1 to DVB-T2 will provide more than enough bandwidth for all BBC channels to be available in HD from every transmitter). No one will be forced to switch to Sky or Virgin. I'm not sure how DSO was a con when everyone is now able to receive far more channels than the 4 or 5 that were available with analogue and there wasn't even any suggestion of HD being available on Freeview when DSO was first announced. DSO was not undertaken at tax payers expense, it was paid for by the many millions of pounds that were raised when the 800MHz band was auctioned to the mobile networks (leaving a large surplus) and the many millions more that will be raised from the 700MHz auction will pay for the 700MHz clearance, including providing new aerials for those who need them. The date shown on the table appears to be based on when the frequency changes are due to take place at that transmitter, not the date the the frequency clearance program will be completed.

dawn: There are no reported faults for Pontop Pike. Have you checked for any loose or damaged cables or connections behind your TV? What are your signal strength and quality readings on the other multiplexes?

Abe: BBC1 and BBC2 are both broadcast together on the same multiplex, so that would suggest that your TV may be tuned to more than one transmitter. Please provide a full postcode so we can see which transmitters cover your location, where you are in relation to them and predicted coverage etc.

All free TV channels in the UK

Tony Woods: There hasn't been any upgrade to Freeview, the retune yesterday was to move some channels to new numbers due to the general entertainment and childrens EPG sections becoming full. According to the coverage prediction for your postcode you should be able to receive most channels from the Mendip transmitter, so it seems likely that your aerial is pointed at the Washford transmitter which is a lite relay (i.e. it only carries the main PSB channels and some of their offshoots).

John w: Either you're watching ITV HD (Anglia HD isn't available on Freeview yet so the Anglia region currently gets Meridian HD) or you've retuned to a different transmitter. Please provide a full postcode so we can see which transmitters are available in your area, where you are in relation to them and your predicted coverage etc.

Carole Crooke: First, check for any loose or damaged cables or connections and don't attempt to retune. Please provide a full postcode so we can see which transmitter you're using and your predicted signal strength etc.

That's Salisbury
Friday 4 August 2017 3:57PM

Sue: Please provide a full postcode so we can see where you are located in relation to the transmitter and your predicted signal strength etc. Have you checked for any loose or damaged cables or connections behind your TV? Local TV stations such as That's Salisbury are broadcast at lower power than other services so it can be more difficult to get good reception if you are near the edge of the coverage area.
