I believe that all local BBC radio stations should have a series of specialist music programmes including popular jazz which should take the form of at least an hour per week on different weekdays.

One has to bear in mind that commercial radio networks have also been cost saving due to drops in advertising revenue by networking more programmes and cutting out a good deal of local shows.and some local stations have actually been taken over by the holding companies.

One has to remember that local commercial radio has also been affected by a drop in advertising revenue and that some local commercial stations have actually been taken over by holding companies such as Great Hits Radio.

If the BBC ever goes on line only for its television channels this must signal the end of the TV licence fee which would then mean freeview on TV would be for commercial channels only. What would happen to and who would finance radio services?

The proposals put forward for the future of TV and radio stations would effectively mean the end of traditional sales of TV and radio receivers.

Brian: I wonder if freeview Talking Pictures channel 82 is available in the Reigate area as we stayed there close to the M25 over Christmas and could not receive it.

Why has the Smithsonian channel disappeared from Freeview over the Christmas period on Channel 57 and has not reappeared anywhere else?

Is it possible for those living in the Reigate area just south of the M25 to receive the signal from the London Live transmitter with a high gain directional antenna?
