This transmitter has no current reported problems

The BBC and Digital UK report there are no faults or engineering work on the Knockmore (Moray, Scotland) transmitter.

UK Free TV shows the coverage area for a radio transmitter as a coloured overlay (orange for FM, other colours for DAB) on the grey map. We have computed the coverage by combining the terrain with the official radiation pattern. A single click will select the transmitter to view the coverage for a single site, and a double click goes to a page showing full details. Click on the buttons in the right-hand corner of the map to choose from different frequencies (or multiplexes for DAB).

My DAB reception sounds like someone gargling. IV30 5SW Reception bad since September. I now listen to
Radio 3 on good old FM. What is going on?

Geoff Mitchell: You're predicted to get good reception of the BBC National stations and the Inverness local mux at your location, with fair reception of the D1 National commercial mux. Does your radio have a telescopic aerial or does it use a wire aerial? Have you tried moving the radio to another room/upstairs? Or borrow another DAB radio to test?

Hello half of my DAB radio services have gone, they were there this morning. My radio says service not available. I live in the IV36 area. I've retuned 3 times. Is anyone else having the same problem. Thank you.

sandy gardiner:

I've not been able to find any reports of problems at the Knockmore transmitter, either from Freeview or the BBC. Have you had any power cuts at all in the bad weather? Have your signals returned?
IF you retuned when you had lost signal (this is NOT advised) it usually just clears all the correct tuning as no signals found. You'll then need to retune again once signals are back to normal.

Getting several channels suddenly missing today (on more than one digital TV/Box), EG. 84 (PBS America), 11 (Sky Mix) all showing no signal and not found at all on re-tuning. All was normal last nigh and other channels are fine.

Apart from the fact that you've posted on the DAB page rather than the Freeview page, there isn't any additional information over there - no reported faults, no Planned engineering.
The two channels you mention are on different multiplexes ArqA/COM5 and ArqB/COM6 so you should also be missing other TV channels on those multiplexes?

For which TV channels are carried on which multiplex, see -
Channel listings for Industry Professionals | Freeview

It was a mistake to retune - you cannot tune to signals that are not there or cannot be decoded (bad pixilation/sound breakup). The usual result is to clear your correct tuning.
IF you were correctly tuned do not retune in those circumstances, it doesn't matter if it's due to Engineering, Faults, Weather conditions or problem with your own installation.

Check you are correctly tuned to Knockmore's UHF channels which are C31, C37, C29, C33, C36 & C48 - that's in multiplex order PSBs1/BBCA, PSB2/D3&4, PSB3/BBCB HD, COM4/SDN, COM5/ArqA, COM6/ArqB

Chris.SE: Sorry about the wrong section. Anyway all missing channels are back today (they were gone for about 20 hours). All missing channels were on what my box calls "QAM 64". Although I tried a re-tune on one of our freeview TV's we had another built in TV and one with with a box so I was able to monitor those channels until they returned.

I assume it was simply a short term fault at Knockmoor.

No problem. Glad you've got them back. FYI QAM64 is the transmission mode which is used by all the main SD multiplexes, it doesn't identify the multiplex which will be named with one of those mentioned in my previous post. The HD multiplex uses QAM256.
The trouble with faults that only affect a commercial multiplex is it's usually impossible to find any reports. When faults also affect BBC muxes, then the BBC usually issue a report!
Thanks for the reply.
