Well this thread has set my mind at rest. I was wondering why our brand spanking Panasonic L32S20B was not finding any HD channels, when various Web sites said the Lichfield AKA Hints AKA Hopwas transmitter was supposed to be doing the biz. And the guy who fitted our aerial recently had commented that he was swamped with people asking why they couldn't get HD any more (since sometime in December). Hey ho, just have to wait for Sutton to come on line; have found two or three dates for that, so far.

Hi Briantist,
I wonder if you can help me.
We live 18 miles from Lichfield and use this for analogue 5 and freeview hd.
I hear people have been having problems with hd.
On my Samsung TV it says signal 64% but the 'bit error rate' is at 2000 (which is the max) and so it does not display anything.
Is there any way to reduce the error rate?
Thanks for your time.

Hi Briantist,
Whilst I realise not everything is cut and dry. I have done the things you link to.
The tv is standalone and has no other rf devices connected to it.
I have a wideband aerial connected to a distribution amp in the loft. We do get electrical interference from road vehicles. But this has always been there. Without major rewiring and cost we cannot put the aerial on the roof.
I was reading on here that the Lichfield transmitter is directional to north and south?
I live south east it appears at le10.
Would a ferrite core thing help in anyway?
Thanks.

Hi Briantist,
By the way I tried a couple of ferrite's around our coax and appeared to make no difference whatsoever.
I remember when tuning in the tv I was picking up ch 33 from Waltham which we do not use (fringe area) and doing a manual scan on 34 from Lichfield for the HD channels.
I am wondering if 33 from Waltham is having an effect on 34 from Lichfield? with regards to the error rate and interferance.
Would there be anyway to block out 33 from Waltham?
Just for me of course :D
Thanks.

Matt: There isn't a way to filter out the signals from Waltham and The Wrekin on C33 or C35, and keep C34.
You would probably be best advised to hang on for switchover, or perhaps add Freesat HD to your system.

I have a Humax HDR-Fox T2 Freeview+HD pvr and live about 8 miles SSE of Birmingham. Until early in January the HD reception on channels 50-54 was faultless. Now the picture and sound frequently breaks up. Is this a permanent feature until Digital Day or is is due to temporary work on the transmitter. We record most of what we watch and if there is a HD problem it's too late to watch the same program on channels 1-4 etc.

john: There have been no changes to the transmitter at all. Can you please have a look at Freeview intermittent interference | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice ?
