mark holford- You need to access the Sky menu via the 'services' button and change the second TV output to match the aspect of the TV, eg 16.9 or 4.3.

Hi,
My parents have just got a new Humax HD freeview plus box, which has been set up and all channels saved. However the channels do not appear to save as everytime they switch it off they need to reset the channels again. Any suggestions please.

I have Sky + in my house on one TV. I have 4 other TV's with built in FreeView however i cannot benefit from these freeview channels because of signal/reception.
I am contemplating buying 4 sky eyes so that i can have sky to each TV. I also want the option of freeview on all TVs as well. What i am thinking of doing is buying a high gain aerial to mount outside, then i will run an aerial cable from the aerial to the skybox, and then, from the skybox to a 6 way high gain amplifier (which i will also buy), and then run cables fom the amplifier to each individual TV.
Will this give me the option of perfect SKY TV and perfect Digital Freeview on every TV?
I look forward to your response.
Regards Angelo

I want to cancel my sky TV contract because we have bought a new TV with Freesat. Is there any sneaky way to still use the Sky+ box record function, pause TV, and record two programs without paying Sky for the privelege (£10/month I believe), or do I have to buy another HDR box?
Thanks in advance.

Can anyone tell why people are willing to pay £700 for a TV set but will noe pay for a correctly intalled aerial and cabling? Is it beacuse they can get a bloke from down the pub to do it for a tener?

Can you help me find out why occasionally a program set up to record on a Grundig Freesat 500gb box fails? There is no explanation, simply the word FAILED.
It's happened twice, but crucially one was the last episode of a series.

Alex: I think you answered your own question. To be fair some DIY jobs are done perfecly well but cost less because the installer has no overheads. And some professionals will fit a benchmarked aerial and cable but the aerial is mounted where it points direcly into a roof or brick wall, the aerial is not assembled correctly (especially true of DAB radio aerials), splitters are left swinging in the wind or a wideband aerial is fitted for a transmitter only using group A channels. In these situations the householder usually thinks they have paid for the best installation until reception problems occur or someone points out that the installation is not performing as well as expected.

Three of my neighbours and I have been suffering in silence over the past 8 months (approx) with the reception of MUX 2 & A channels, all assuming the problem was within our individual houses / setup. I can see from this site that the problem appears to be 'two frequency interference' but cannot see what is recommended to fix the problem.
Both a neighbour and I have consulted professional arial installers and both have indicated that newly erected buildings in the area are likely to blame and suggested the only solution is to switch to using satellite or cable feeds. Although I am not disregarding this advice entirely I am sceptical that this interference would result in the loss of MUX 2 & A channels only. Also worth noting is that these new buildings are about 6 floors each and roughly quarter of a mile away so I'd be surprised if these were in direct line of our transmitter at Crystal Palace.
My testing so far has included using two different televisions, both with built in freeview, directly to arial sockets and via PVR, from different rooms. My arial is 4 years old and roof mounted with a Triax booster/splitter in the loft space. As stated at the outset I am not the only one who has encountered this issue so doubt it is a setup issue but am happy to be enlightened!
