Channel One to close, Challenge to come to Freeview
Sky is closing one pay and one free channel from the portfolio it bought from Virgin TV, because they match channels already provided by Sky.
Bravo and Channel One (which was Virgin 1 and before that FTN) will close.
This means that the Channel One slot on Freeview will be replaced with the quiz show channel Challenge.
Challenge is now in the Freeview guide on 46. If you can't see it yet, please follow these instructions on your set-top box or Freeview TV: My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound or the channel line up is wrong - ukfree.tv.

We all know there's no point in complaining to Sky because removing Channel One is gonna give Sky tens of thousands of new paid subscribers since Freeview's got f**k all on it now, all they care about is keeping the shareholders happy and legaly destroying as much of the free competition as possible.

Hi Briantist
"Ofcom is responsible for licensing all UK commercial television services".
They could remove the licence that allows sky to broadcast @#"% on the freeview service.

Rick: They certainly can't do that, they don't have the power. Sky has not broken any of the conditions of their licences.

Alan: Yes, that is correct. Sky are there to make money for their shareholders. They operate quite normally for a business.

No more C1. This channel will be sorely missed just so the greedy fat cats can make even bigger profits. Lets face it what these people have done is obscene. It seems to be the way of the world at the moment though. Take it away from the poor and give it to the rich. I will not be taking out a subscription with Sky or anyone else and as I refuse to watch crap TV I will be using my off button. Maybe every one should cancel their subscriptions to Sky and take up a hobby.
Rupert Murdock should be made to read this entire thread so he can see how unpopular the killing off of C1 actually is. Mind you, he would not care one iota.

Bally python: The whole point of Sky is to buy up popular programming and make people pay for it.
If Sky thinks that people are upset, I am sure they would be happy if one or more of them took up a Sky subscription.
