As an update to the original plan (see Freeview channel numbers change on September 19th 2012) - the changes to Freeview this week will now be less extensive than planned, as two channels have appealed the changes.

The main changes are shown in this diagram below. You will need to do a "first time installation" to ensure the channel numbers are correct. See My Freeview box has no EPG ... or the channel line up is wrong if you don't know what to do. Another option is the list of retune instruction leaflets and manuals on the Freeview Retune - list of manuals page.

Kevin Jones: If you got HD channels before, why not now? You might have lost a mux somewhere, but a retune to the right transmitter should sort that.

As for Technika.... !

My Mother is 93yrs old and worried about these changes. I am not technically minded either so we are bit concerned and confused by these announcements flashing on the screen. Can you advise me what to do to complete this change or do we have to get an engineer in?

Mrs Martryn: If you are purely referring to the channel number changes? and "not" because you have possibly been reading comments about problems with Goodmans boxes, then the only action required is to retune your mothers TV or box.

If this does not have the desired effect, i.e: channels in the correct order, then first of all select "manufacturers reset" / "default setting" or "first time installation" prior to retuning, the three procedures mentioned all resulting in the same thing, that being to clear out all channels stored in the TV or boxes tuner prior to it being retuned.

It would be of assistance to know the brand / model of the TV or box your mother uses.
