To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:

Try this:

1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;

2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;

3) wait 30 seconds;

4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;

5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;

6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;

7) do a complete scan for channels again.

The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

Hi I have a question please. I have a Freeview HD TV in my living room which has been working absolotely fine (aerial plugged into wall) for many months now. I recently purchsed a TV for the kitchen (aerial also plugged into wall) but this one is not receiving many channels when scanning. In manual scan mode, the reception is very poor across all channels (barring the BBC channel).

What is the issue?!

The weird thing is that if I remove the TV from the wall and scan for channels again, I suddenly get all channels but still no freeview HD channels (my TV has a DVBT2 tuner).

Any advice?! Why am I getting differet sets of channels in the kitchen and living room when both tvs' aerials are connected to the wall? And why does removing the TV from the wall improve the freeview reception?

Thanks!

Hi,

A little help would be appreciated in respect of Ch58 (770Mhz). After a full retune, today, a number of channels are apparently on Ch58, with terrible dropout.

Postcode: BR6 8ES
Loft aerial pointing to Crystal Palace (with generally excellent reciption, except as follows).

Specifically...

This is only happening with one receiver. All others have been beaten into releasing their old channel info and now work fine.

The affected unit is (naturally!) our primary receiver (and our only HD-capable one)

This is a Humax Fox-T2 which has been factory reset and a fully retuned (as best we can see). It receives HD programs fine, but a bunch of stations are listed as being on Ch58 (770000Khz) which is indicating poor signal strength & quality (this is reflected in massive picture/sound drop out).

The 'problem' stations I've checked are: ITV 1 (and +1), Channel 4 (and +1), Channel 5, ITV 2, More 4, E4 - these are all set to C58.

Any help and suggestions would be most appreciated.

Thanks.

Regards,

Andy

I was away and did not proceed with the first step of retuning on April 4th. Does it mean that today I cannot retrieve any channel and that my television can be dumped as well as the digi box???
I still have a few hours to go if anything can be saved.
Thank you for your advice or confirmation.

I live at WD17 3TU and have successfully retuned on 4th and 18th April.

Please can you tell me why I am unable to get ITV 3 (was Channel 10)?

Thank you.

steven wilks: As long as it is not on this list TVs and boxes that do not support the 8k-mode | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice .

If it is, you will need to use a Freeview box.

Brigitte: Just retune now. It doesn't matter if you didn't do it before. Do a "first time" install on your box or set, or do the procedure listed at the top of the page.
