My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound o
To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:
Try this:
1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;
2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;
3) wait 30 seconds;
4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;
5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;
6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;
7) do a complete scan for channels again.
The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

Pippo,SW2.A full postcode preferably not a partial one is more beneficial to ascertain the reception possibilities in your location as such.

Is the aerial on your roof polarised vertically facing Chartham relay or polarised horizontally most likely facing Dover main transmitter or even Bluebell Hill main transmitter itself.
One possibility is too much signal which could be causing the weak or no signal you are receiving.Try experimenting with a set-top aerial or a piece of wire into your newish Humax box you specified and see how that performs.If the weak/no signal channels suddenly all reappear then too much signal will be the cause in this case a variable signal attenuator will need to be used to deduce the excess signal which is blocking your Humax box.
My best tip is to reset your appliance,then unplug aerial from your Humax box then auto scan from start to finish,the result it will pick up zero channels as such yet clears your device's previous memory.Now after this replug aerial back in yer Humax box and this time manual scan the frequencies instead.It should hopefully do the trick.

Hi postcode is nr280ud I live in north Walsham and aeriel is facing west runton. Switch over occurred and received all channels it was suppose to however last month I lost half of them bbc1, bbc2, bbc3, bbc4, cbeebies, CBbc I then rescanned and got them back but lost itv, channel4, itv2, e4 and a couple more. If I keep rescanning I cannot get all either one set or the other I understand they are on different multiplexes. The other day I even managed to get a load of Dutch and German, French channels. Any suggestions pls. It is built in freeview on a Samsung tv

I would look up inversion effect as the likely cause of your difficuly,hence you implied receiving French,Dutch,German channels,etc.

Tristan: In addition to the very valid point that Mark Fletcher has made are you positive that your aerial is facing West Runton? as although post codes cannot be relied upon for accuracy most of the aerials I see in the area are mounted horizontally and appear to be facing Tacolneston, whereas they would be mounted vertically for West Runton.
You should try a test by deleting everything stored in the programme memory by carrying out a rescan without the aerial being connected, then go into the manual tune menu and enter Ch55 (BBC from TAC) into the box, if an indication of signal strength is immediately seen carry out a scan and giving a report on your findings.
I will say though that good reception is not predicted as being possible in your area from anywhere, as West Runton's ITV1 etc has the permanent status of variable and Tacolneston has similar on its ITV1 / HD / ArqB (Yesterday / Film 4 etc)
