My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound o
To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:
Try this:
1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;
2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;
3) wait 30 seconds;
4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;
5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;
6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;
7) do a complete scan for channels again.
The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

Hi! All has been going on fab until today when I noticed that suddenly out of nowhere - I was on Meridian tonight news and now I am suddenly on Anglia. Could this be something to do with the dreadful weather? I am hoping it will be back to normal tomorrow or I will try a rescan I am assuming....?

Sarah C: You are predicted to have good reception from both Anglia (Sudbury/Rouncefall) and Meridian (Bluebell Hill), plus variable reception from London (C/P) possible at all times, dependent on where the aerial is pointing. The appearance of Anglia (on button 3?) suggests that an automatic rescan took place, or another channel was found which was accepted. Meridian should now be in the 800s of the channel list. This situation will remain until another retune takes place, at which time if Anglia is above the threshold for reception the same storage sequence could be repeated as Sudbury on C41 is found before Bluebell Hill on C43. If possible do a manual tune of the Bluebell hill frequencies, after clearing the channel list, to restore the correct set of channels.

Teresa: The channels you identify are carried on the Commercial (COM) multiplexes. The ones you have are those carried by the Public Service Broadcaster (PSB) multiplexes. The COMs don't have as wide a coverage as the PSBs and this is mainly because they don't broadcast from the small "filler-in" relay transmitters (which the PSBs do).
The likely cause depends on which transmitter your aerial is facing (and therefore which one you are tuned to):
- If your aerial is directed to the Newton Abbot transmitter then you won't receive the COMs because they don't broadcast from it. This transmitter is at 12 degrees from your location and your aerial will be vertical (elements up/down).
- If your aerial is directed to the Beacon Hill transmitter, then this does carry PSBs and COMs, but a replacement aerial may be needed for the COMs.
The only way you are ever going to receive the COMs is probably going to be from Beacon Hill, "if" you are in a suitable location. As you are on a slope, then what can and can't be picked up might vary house by house.

sharon: Sandy Heath (Anglia) is indicated as the station that serves your area and on checking a few minutes ago everything appears to perfectly OK over all channels, if the problem is still in existence then have a check at your aerial system, and if you use a powered booster / splitter to feed the various TV's make sure that its power has not been switched off.

I've had no signal since last Tuesday too, I've done the reset/rescan etc and I can literally get about 3 channels... And one which plays murder she wrote continually! Not so good for my 22month old who now can't watch cbeebies!
I'm in the sg6 area, and I'm in a top flat courtyard area.
Any suggestions welcomed!

LJ: SG6 is indicated as being approximately only about 10 miles away from the Sandy transmitter and at distances as close as that from a high powered transmitter such as Sandy Heath signal overloading problems are very likely to occur, and if severe can completely block reception.
With what you have mentioned regarding you living in a top floor flat could indicate that you "might" be using a communal aerial system and something that somewhat limits what you can do, but if you can borrow a set top aerial from someone then for a test plug that in and carry out a rescan, if though you cannot borrow an aerial then a short piece of wire of about 18" or so minimum plugged into the aerial sockets inner receptacle should also be suffice to obtain a picture of sorts, and if it does then its an indication that the problem is with the aerial system used.
Give this a try and giving an update on the results, as well as your aerial arrangements
By the way if anyone who is normally receiving Freeview without any great problems is suddenly confronted with a blank screen when a programme is selected, then they should always resist the temptation to carry out a rescan as it achieves absolutely nothing, but though does guarantee that all channels that are already stored in the TV or boxes memory will be wiped out as rescanning is the only thing that can do that, this making it necessary for frequent rescans to be carried out in an attempt to recover the lost channels.
