My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound o
To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:
Try this:
1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;
2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;
3) wait 30 seconds;
4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;
5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;
6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;
7) do a complete scan for channels again.
The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

Ian: Please provide a full postcode so we can see the coverage prediction for your location. STV2 is a local TV channel and is only broadcast from a few transmitters that cover Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee, Aberdeen, Ayr and the surrounding areas. It's also available via Sky on channel 117 in areas that receive STV on 103.

Larry Walker: There are no faults showing for Rosemarkie. According to your postcode data, you're only a few miles from the transmitter so it's quite likely that your TV is being overloaded with too much signal, which presents the same effect of have too little signal (digital tuners don't cope well with either too much or too little signal). If you have an amplifier either turn it down a bit (or try bypassing it if it can be safely accessed) or otherwise get an attenuator (such as the one linked below) and connect it to your aerial input to reduce the level of signal (you should be aiming for around 70%-85% signal strength).

Ian: I'm having the same problem in KY12, signal comes from Blackhill. I have several TV's and again I have tried to retune a few times but can't get Freeview channel 8

David: STV2 is broadcast from Black Hill but only directionally towards Glasgow (there is a coverage map on the Black Hill transmitter page). If you provide a postcode, you'll be able to access a coverage prediction for your location which will show whether it should be available.

Hi I wonder if you can help. Every evening a 9.30pm we lose BBC channels also ITV and quite a few others. We are from Wolverhampton and pick our signal from Wrekin in Shropshire . This has been going on for over a week. The other freeview channels show weak strength. They are fine all day. We have tried resetting several times to no avail.

Sue

Susan Andrews:
Please provide a full post code so that we can look up the reception conditions where you are located. It varies a lot in any town, even from house to house so giving us just the town does not help at all.
I suspect you either have a problem with you aerial or cables from that to the TV. Check each connection carefully and ensure it is in food condition.
You say you have weak signals on some channels, what are the signal strength readings? Ideally it should be between 55% and 85% for SD channels and between 60% and 85% for HD channels. Any less or any more would be a problem and cause variable reception as you are experiencing.

Margaret Close: Have you reconnected the lead coming from the aerial on the roof to RF IN on the Sky box? You should then be able to connect another lead from RF1 on the Sky box to the aerial socket on the back of your TV.
