To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:

Try this:

1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;

2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;

3) wait 30 seconds;

4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;

5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;

6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;

7) do a complete scan for channels again.

The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

Brian: The Bretch Hill transmitter was retuned to lower frequencies on 7th March which your existing aerial may not be well suited to receive if it is an older Group C/D aerial. If you contact the Freeview Advice Line (see link below) they will arrange for a new wideband aerial to be fitted (free of charge if you don't have satellite or cable).

Hello, I am in Windermere Cumbria and am on a relay transmitter from Claiff Heights. I get only a basic amount of channels and recently got ITV3.
Today I can only get BBC channels , no others, except on HD where ITV 3 4 5 are there. This is on both tvs and the recording box, which when retuned only found BBC1,2 4.
Why is this, and when will it be rectified.
thanks CB

Daren : Retuning was a bad idea as you've now deleted all of your channels which were correctly tuned (Newhaven is due to change frequencies, but not until some time in the summer). If you can't get anything by manually tuning on UHF channels 50/43 (and 40 if your TV receives HD channels) then you need to start looking for a problem with your aerial system such as a loose or damaged cable or connection, so start behind your TV and work your way back as far as you can safely access towards the aerial.

About 2 months ago I lost BBC1HD and others on same mux). We are using Hannington (live near Slough). We had new arial installed approx 2 years ago, with filters to reject Crystal Palace signal and all was goodness. Then 2 months (ish) ago recordings failed on HD channels - I tried re-tuning and channels simply disappeared, have tried removing filters and re-tuning, adding filters back in and re-tuning - nothing.

Ant thoughts gratefully recieved

Simon

Can anyone help?

Since the bad weather I seem to have problems with the independent channels. Pixelation everywhere! I have retuned, rechecked the aerial, everything!

I still have no decent picture.

Can anyone help, please?

Steve:

To be able to offer any meaningful assistance we need you to enter a full post code into this website. Only then can we determine what your signal reception conditions are like.
