My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound o
To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:
Try this:
1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;
2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;
3) wait 30 seconds;
4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;
5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;
6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;
7) do a complete scan for channels again.
The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

I have done a full retune, several times. I am not receiving any ITV, Channel 4 or Channel 5. My transmitter is Black Hill. Any help would be appreciated. Channel just says No Signal.

Kevin Green: Assuming you are using the Mendip transmitter you should try a manual scan on Ch67 as ITV4 is on that MUX, if you do get it OK have a check at its signal strength, as it might just be on about the receivability threshold and no more.
If nothing has altered with your system there isn't really anything you can do about it, that is but wait until the problem rectifies itself.

I have a Humax HDR-FOXT2 HD Freeview Recorder. Signal quality appears to be very poor on almost all channels; 1,2,3,4,5, etc. However, I discovered I can get the same channel content with a great picture on channels 801, 802, 803,... 835 etc. This includes HD channels. I've asked Humax and they can't help. Other tuners in the house work fine. I'm in the Inverness area. Any ideas?

JamesB: Humax boxes will generally store the channels received starting with the lowest end first rather than strength received, so I suspect that the ones you have stored in 1,2,3 etc are from Rosemarkie, whereas the better signal strength ones are from the actual Inverness transmitter.
What to do for a check is go into the Humax's tuning menu / signal condition whilst on BBC1 and if you see Ch45 then that's what's happened, BBC1 Inverness being on CH62.
Some people get over the problem by removing the aerial and whilst carrying out a rescan then quickly plugging it back in again when it passes the highest number of the channels that's NOT wanted, in your case this being as soon as it passes Ch50.
The other way of doing it is by carrying out a manual scan on the channels required, storing after completion of each block, in your case these being Ch55-Ch59-Ch62, these being the three MUX's at Inverness.

Hello, My line up of channels goes: 1,2,7,9,11,12,15,etc. At the same time 3&4 are here despite missing from the list.
Tried retuning many times (areal off/ on etc) which helped for some time as much more channels were showing weak or no signal but fine after rescanning for short time, so had to retune every couple of days or so. Now (for about a week) the story is different as channels mentioned are absent altogether and rescanning doesn't help.
I am in london (Cristall palace transmitter I guess) have two tv sets and only one of them developed the habit of missing channels. Btw it's in a room that looks away from the transmitter, so I'am started wandering if that could be the reason for it's naughtiness.
Would be grateful for suggestions on solving the puzzle!

Hello, I acquired a Alba Freeview box yesterday. While the BBC channels and ITV 3 are OK, I got the "No video, no audio" signs for ITV 1 and 2, Channels 4, 4+1, More 4 and 5. I tried to clear all the channels and did the rescanning but it didn't help. The first time I did the channel scan I got frozen picture for ITV 1 with jerking sound and now it became no video and no audio, as I said earlier. Any suggestions to rectify this problem will be very much appreciated. By the way, I live in a flat therefore I am using the communal aerial. Thanks.

Vic: You failed to mention your location, and considering Freeview reception can be very critical in many areas this is considered as being essential information, with your post code being the most accurate way of assessing what is possible.
