How do I change the RF output channel on a Sky Digibox?
Brian Butterworth published on UK Free TV Press the [SERVICES] button and then press [4] [0] [1] then [SELECT]
Then press [4] to go to the RF output menu.
You can now change the value so that it does not clash with an analogue TV channel or a Freeview multiplex.
HD and "new EPG" boxes
If you have a HD box, press [SERVICES] button and then press [0] [0] [1] then [SELECT]. Nothing is shown on the TV screen until you press the Select button.Then use the [RIGHT] arrow button on the remote until this screen is shown, and press SELECT to change the values:

Harry: If its just the box that has been replaced then Sky can alter your card by a download, but its best to give them a quick call to confirm (or otherwise) this as I am not up to date on the contract side of things but only the technical aspects of the box.
Regarding the rooftop aerial and the distinct possibility of strong Freeview signals causing a problem with your Sky link, if you are viewing "Sky" on the remote TV and witnessing a slightly grainy picture, don't touch anything except to pull the roof aerial out of the Sky box then check if the picture is still grainy, as that's the positive test for this sort of problem.
And as far as checking the possibility of bad screening on the coax link, do not replace the Sky boxes roof aerial just yet but switch the remote TV over to Freeview and select BBC, and although its unlikely that any picture will be seen go into the TV's signal check screen and observe if anything is seen on the signal strength indicator, if not or its just at a very low level then that's OK.

I think I have sorted out the problem. I had forgotten what I did when I first set up the TV link years and years ago, but it seems the coax lead between the sky box and the second TV wasn't one lead, it was actually three leads, all connected at two points on the line with connectors. I gave the connectors a twist and the quality did improve, a bit of a bad install but I have now resolved the problem.

Just one more question,
in regards to my next door neighbour, the RF2 socket on their sky box is broken (as it is a very old box), so is it possible to buy a scart RF adapter and run the coax from the adapter?

Harry: Yes, by purchasing the device shown on the link, but regarding your neighbours Sky box, are you in effect saying that both the RF outputs have failed? you having verified that they are actually turned on.

Only the RF2 socket.
RF1 would be used for the main television next to the sky box, and the scart would be used for the lead to the second TV (via the RF modulator).
Am I right in saying though that there will be no power for the TV link?

Harry: Yes, that's correct regarding the eye being inoperable via the external modulator, but when you refer to RF2 being broken are you meaning there is no RF output from the socket or are you referring to no power for the magic eye even although its turned on? or are you maybe even meaning both have failed?
You might have already done this, but for test purposes have you tried your neighbours second set (complete with eye) sitting near to the Sky box? being coupled into same with a normal jumper lead.
Another test connected to the above being, that if the second TV was positioned near to the Sky box and its RF2 modulators output wasn't picked up on the second TV during an analogue scan made on it, then if this second TV is also used for viewing programmes other than just Sky via the coax link, then can these "other" programmes still be viewed on the second TV via the boxes RF2 output? as if they cannot then that could indicate something as simple as the connection at the back of the RF2 socket having a bad solder joint.

Harry: No problem! although if the middle pin is not touching the outer casing then just slide a wire onto it, then push the end of this wire into the female socket end of the cable that would have been used to plug into the socket, binding the outers of each other together.
Anyway you are the one on site, so only you know what's possible and what's not depending on how badly its damaged.

Hi
I have run a cable from my sky plus hd box to a second tv and followed your instructions regarding changing the rf output as the picture was fuzzy. I have found that channel 35 is the best of a bad bunch, having tried a number of channels in the available range. The sound is perfect, but the picture is still fuzzy. Should I persevere trying all the potential channels? Or does it sound like another problem? My postcode is ol13 0ug.
Ps I watch all my channels through the sky box and no outside aerial is attached.
