I have now lost all signal can you tell me what the problem might be?
The problem could be one of:
- the aerial has been moved or damaged;
- the cables or connectors that connect the digibox to the aerial are damaged;
- the digibox has broken.
If you have a "spare" digibox you use this to test the aerial connection. Can you still watch analogue TV OK?

Arek Glaas: Same here in SW Herts... contacted Digital TV UK who were very helpful, as were the folk who sent through an @800 filter recently; both say it is a Sony problem as they have had numerous calls today... our DVD player is Sony HXD890 so that would fit.... can't access Guide, any channels or sound at all.... any ideas please... Sony offices not manned till Monday on 0844 8466555 - let's bombard them with calls till they fix this problem they've obviously created!

From what I am reading on the SONY community site it seems that this has been caused by a change to Freeview itself - something to do with the way the EPG works and the SONY stuff cannot handle it. At least some of the SONY models failing are actually made by Panasonic. My RDR-HXD790 now works after a fashion by changing location to France!

Thanks to who ever found out setting setup to FRANCE, it actualy works, pity all the brains in the most powerful media company in the world SONY, could not do this or its customers, thank god for techno geeks.
For those who are not techo's the method is as follows
press Enter on System Menu
press Enter om Initial Setup
press Enter on Basic
move cursor to Easy Setup and press Enter
press Enter on Start
Leave next screen on English and press Enter
press Enter on Auto Scan
Next screen is the one to change to FRANCE, move cursor left or right until FRANCE appears press Enter
Auto SCan now searches for channels
Wait until setting clock pop up finnishes can take a little while
Ignore next setup as it is for defunct analouge channels
Press system menu button to finnish
You should now have all your channels
Have not been able to check if system now on French Time, be careful as his could put auto recording time different to UK settings and may put time out by one hour.
Hope this helps

Sorry, left of telling that this is the system on SONY RDR's not sure about others, but it sorted out both of my recorders, one with firmware upgrade and the other without

Brian Duffy: I think the thing to check is that the time is set correctly. On mine I haven't done this (having set the Country to France) and it is recording at the correct time.
I don't understand why this change was made on a Friday night and why it is that now the problem is known that the errorneous broadcast has not been reverted back to the last known "working" one.

grandma: If you set the Country to France then it will need setting back to the UK in order to get the Guide working.
Go to System Menu > Initial Setup > Basic > Easy Setup
(These are the command names on the HXD-RDR870 - I guess they might be the same on other affected models.).
