The problem could be one of:

- the aerial has been moved or damaged;

- the cables or connectors that connect the digibox to the aerial are damaged;

- the digibox has broken.

If you have a "spare" digibox you use this to test the aerial connection. Can you still watch analogue TV OK?

James: Yes, but does the aerial feed to these other devices being used loop through the cheap Freeview box? whereby when you unplug the box you also have to link the in / out RF conectors together.

If this doesnt apply then where is the coax lead from your aerial fed into?

james: The only possibility that I can think of which could cause that is "if" you are receiving an excessively high level of signal from Sutton Coldfield that is blocking reception, as the action of plugging in the Freeview box will take the edge of the signal to the other devices.

You haven't mentioned what type of four way splitter you are using? and whether its of the powered variety or not? but if it is then try connecting one of the other TV's straight onto the aerial down lead and see what happens.

I would also be obliged if you could also mention the model of cheap Freeview box you are referring to that seemingly has magic properties, as I just want to ensure that it does not have aerial powering facilities.

Need some advice. Hav a freesat box ( new), I can get the hd channels but I am trying to watch the red button channels for the Olympics. I can see the list but when I pick one the device is saying connection problem. Are other people experiencing this is? Any ideas

since the start of the olympics my signal has gone choppy, i was wondering if the bbc were pushing the bandwidth a bit to far with all the extra red button stuff they are proving and its weakened the signal

Ever since I've had freeview (several years) all the BBC channels have been rock solid. There has hardly ever been a stutter or pixellation. As soon as the Olympics have started there is frequent freezing, pixellation and sometimes total loss of signal.
It is very frustrating.

Just since the Olympics started my freeview has gone to pot. I can get BBC channels perfectly but STV, CH4 and all Freeview channels unwatchable. It alternates between No signal, a black screen or just freezing. It happens in the evenings from 6pm only. The ariel connections are sound, everything is plugged in and the ariel is pointed to the correct place. Any ideas?

Chevaune Stanley: The timing of this problem is liable to be purely coincidental, as the symptoms experienced suggest that the problem could well be caused by atmospheric reasons affecting the signal, as its the type of difficulty experienced by many during the summer months and is something which unfortunately can occur on more than one occasion as it comes and goes.

However, no one is really able to give a more positive answer without having knowledge of your location, this in the form of a post code or at least one from nearby, as only then can the signal levels expected in your area be assessed with the aid of the trade reception predictor.
